Pros and cons of RAT 7 mouse.
One of the reasons I bought the RAT 7 was because of its "wings"; many times my thumb would scrape the surface of the mousepad and it hindered me in FPSs. Problem solved. After I opened its box, I discovered another interesting feature: the customizable palmrest; my palm would usually float above the mouse, but with the optional elevated palmrest now my palm touches the mouse. As the left side of the mouse can move back and foward (and inward and outward), it is almost certain that the two buttons and the "snipe" button will stay exactly below you thumb. I've read somewhere (I think it was PCGamer.com) that it is a heavy mouse, but I disagree. I'm not a fan of heavy mice, and all I had to do with it was to take out two of its five weights. The ability to customize how you want the feel of your mouse is clearly its strongest point.
The software is what I found a bit lacking. I was used to the DeathAdder's drive, in which you can map all the buttons save the left click; this doesn't happen in the RAT 7. For example, I couldn't change the mousewheel function, only the horizontal wheel. I couldn't remap the dpi adjustment button as well, as I didn't find it to be very useful. Another downside is that the RAT 7 can only change on the fly three profiles, as opposed to five from DeathAdder.
But its positives overcome its negatives, and it great to have a mouse that fits almost perfectly in your hand. In conclusion, unless you use the mice's software to its fullest, this mouse is higly recommendable.
