Seems a bit small
I had expected a good amount of art from both the final product and concept stages of the game to be there. What I got was tad disappointing at least in the amount i was looking for. The Art work is fantastic for what is there, and you don't need to be fluent in Japanese to see some of the concepts they decided to throw out. The interviews on the other hand do require some proficiency with Japanese or decent search skills to find the translation on the net

Inspirational Artbook
First I'll say that if you are an artist or a fan of art in any respect, then this compilation of designs from Dark Souls is for you. The art from this game is beautiful and this book shows and proves on that perfectly. One of the best art books I've purchased in a long time. Personally, I prefer art books that have a lot of rough sketches and ideas and Dark Souls Design Works is full of that. I've read others saying that they hated the fact that the book was made up of a lot of rough sketches but that's the whole point. The work in progress is phenomenal and it was great to see certain characters and locations in their early stages. Once again if you love art then this book will certainly satisfy.

Great Art Book
The Quality of eveything is what you expect for Japanese Quality. The paper the color the lay out. the composition of early work and finish is balanced so you will see both of them. while the only downside is it's japanese. you may not care about it if you didn't want to read the interview. by the way, good job the game is great and the art book is also the same. worth every penny.

Gorgeous
Dark Souls, it's predecessor Demon's Souls, and the previous King's Field games have always had a unique style that combined a fairtytale-esque grimness with a realistic, gritty medieval fantasy setting.
The art pieces are incredible on their own, and the concepts for each creature, armament, and setting provides tremendous inspiration and reference for artists. For fans of the game, the artbook not only provides detailed concepts of the creatures ingame, but it also provides concepts for characters who didn't make it into the final version.
On the downside, the book is of course, entirely in japanese, so you miss out on a majority of the lore revealed in the book if you can't understand it. You also miss out on the last section, which is a developer interview. Also, the book itself, while pretty, seems to be fairly tightly binded, making turning pages difficult. I myself was constantly afraid of accidently ripping or bending a page while turning it.
Overall though, it was most definitly worth it. An amazing artbook that belongs in any fan's/art enthusiast's collection.

Not bad but expected more
All the more when it comes to the number of pages. I mean roughly 110 illustrated pages on 128 pages in all is rather short in my opinion. Still it's interresting to see some characters as they were meant to be in the first place but some illustrations present in the little artbook that accompanied the special edition are missing hence this book doesn't feel like it's the real complete artbook.
As for the translation of the interview, it's easily found on the net and it's worth having a look.

Beautiful Artbook
Dark Souls is a game with incredible art assets throughout. This book is a truly remarkable compilation of concept work for locations, characters, armor, weapons, monsters, and a bunch of other things that make this game really shine. It also includes unused designs, some of which are being added to the upcoming Prepare to Die edition.
Additionally, there is a chapter on the end that is a dedicated developer interview. It is in Japanese, so this may only be of interest to people who can read it, and a full translation will most likely crop up online later anyway (some of it has already been discussed by the YouTube user EpicNameBro), so it's not a real selling-point of the book to those outside of Japan. This is a Design Works book, so its main focus would be on designs, and it more than delivers in that respect.
