Hack and Slash classic
What is the problem with today's gamers? They do not appreciate good design and would rather play something with overdone graphics and overproduced cinematics. This game called Dragon Valor is hack and slash at its finest - GAMEPLAY FIRST. And I might add that Namco had the courage to release this during an era when the hack and slash genre was considered obsolete. Lets face it Golden Axe was not reproduced on Saturn in it original form, instead they opted to release a 2d street fighter version of Golden Axe. But this Dragon Valor quietly paved the way for Devil May Cry, Dante's Inferno, Chaos Legion, and Kingdom Hearts. The music is very fitting for the atmosphere and as in every Namco title during this era, the controls were superb and gameplay very satisfying. It is too bad this game was never recognized back when it released. It spans 2 discs and just feels classic, almost like the polygonal version of the classic SNES hit Actraiser. Why do gamers want to play the same Madden Football game every year?
