Developed by a hugely-talented, Tokyo-based team headed by the legendary Sawaki Takeyasu (Devil May Cry) and Masato Kimura (Okami, Viewtiful Joe) El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, draws players into a rich storyline inspired by events in the Old Testament's apocryphal 'Book of Enoch.' In the game, players take on the role of Enoch and must harness his natural combat skills to master a range of powerful and Heavenly weapons under the guidance of the watchful Archangels. Only then will he be able to deliver the souls of the Fallen Angels and spare the world from a great flood ordered by Heaven.

if you are not in the main stream then this might be the game you want to try. the art direction is so unique. it's not super beautiful or so realistic. but it can bllow you mind. each stage has completly different art concept. the game play is simple just.... evade and hit. if you are bore with the game you have. try this one.

Certainly El Shaddai give us a different/new experience about adventure games. Your psychedelic and in the same time beautiful stages are incridible.

An epic journey that's rich and detailed.
The art is out of this world and the combat is more than hack and slash. Getting the timing and combo right is very rewarding.

Music is also of very high caliber with some epic pieces.
The story and the characters are really interesting but not for everyone. The story seems to be really rushed at times (probably budget reason).
Also, the game says Easy mode is for casual player so don't play hero on first play and go for Normal and up, the battles will be so long and hard you won't be able to enjoy the game at all.
And this game's platinum trophy is one of the most difficult to get.

Core gameplay is passable, the main draw of the game is to admire the art and environment as it dynamically changes as you progress through the level.
If you enjoy the 'art' of games, you'll find something to enjoy here.

From the creator of OKAMI, what do you expect from the master of art and game desiign. This is game is probably one of the prettiest and best looking game yet. Not on a technical scale, but artistic level. This game doesnt need high res textures and explosion or cheap effects to make your jaw drop. Whats great about this game is its easy to pick and play, and stress free. A beautiful journey which is fresh from the number of games that get released each year. Its one of the best games ive played this year and enjoyed it all the way through. The story isn't that great, but that's not the point of the game. The gameplay and art style , sound presents a perfect package. I hope there is a sequel, because we need more unique games like this. Everyone must give this game a try!!

in the beginning,you might be very interested and hook onto it,but as you continue to play..you will feel the drag of simple gameplay,plot and visual that serve to only hide its poor grahics...bosses does not varies alot in terms of design...but still,as a fellow gamers,i would put it in my collection as it brings games in a diff direction

The problems with this game are many, like wonky collision detection for 2D sections and stiff combat, but give it a chance, and you might just fall in love with the experience as a whole.

This is a really unique game and it's a shame it hasn't been talked about too much. The imagery and artstyle is really beautiful and the gameplay itself matches the art style. Sometimes I just stare at the screen because it is that mesmerizing. Hope there is a sequel!
