description
The game takes players to an era when the Cocoon crumbles. In this new world, everyone assums that Lightning is dead, except for Sara, who has never given up on her sister.
A new character came into the picture. Noel has powerful spells up his sleeve and together with Sara and the Moogle, they set off to explore the unknown lands. Monsters attack in hordes and after the battle, players will be presented with an option to befriend these beasts. The beasts all have special skills, so make good use of them to boost your attacks.

Awesome game
Bought it because it was on sale. Ended up being a ton of fun. Really builds on the points that made 13 great (the battle system) while fixing the faults (no more winding corridors). Definitely worth checking out!

Bom jogo, mas existem FF muito melhores!
Quem jogou o ápice da série (FFVII) e outros espetaculare como FFVIII e FFXII..., vai perceber que aqui são os gráficos que chamam a atenção e o jogo em si não supera os já citados. No geral vale a pena jogar este RPG, pois ele é bom (não o melhor).

Great Game
My very first Final Fantasy game on the Xbox and I wasn't disappointed! Graphics are excellent, music is very majestic and great to listen to.
Not your typical hack and slash game that I was expecting, but still fun as it requires strategy and quick timing to play well.
Recommended!

An Improvement from FF-XIII
A great improvement from previous game with good character progression system, monster catcher game mechanic, non-linear path with time-travel system that changes level or areas to add more replay value. Even with some flaws like only 2 playable character this still a great Final Fantasy JRPG.

Not bad at all
With charismatic characters, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a great game. The game has good action sequences, and less linear cities than its predecessor. The collectibles monsters was a plus.

The Final Fantasy series has been on a slow, steady decline since FFIX almost brought Square back to the elements that made the franchise great to begin with.
The pinnacle being VII, everything after has been a slog, as more and more time and energy has been pumped into graphics, while the freedom, game-play and most of all, STORY has taken a backseat. XIII-2 is only the second numbered sequel, and while I certainly don't think it is a great game, by any means, it at least shows that someone, somewhere inside SE is listening and trying to get the series back on track.
I would suggest anyone who has an interest in this series give this one a go, if for no other reason than to give incentives for more risk taking in future installments.

I don't know about you,but i didn't like the storyline. Too cheesy and girlish for my taste (not that i'm being sexist,but i do think some elements should be removed in order to further bolster the role of Serah as a strong protagonist,rather than stereotyping her as being too dependent on others).
Graphics wise,the game is great looking. The first few hours of the game where you're near the beach really reminds you of FFX,and that's beautiful. But don't get me started on the battles. It's the same button mashing bonanza as in FF13,a sure snoozefest for those who likes to strategize. Can never play over an hour before giving up and doing something else.
All in all,if you liked the first one,get it. But if you're looking for something better,better wait for Versus.

When I first picked this game I thought that it was like an extension of the FFXIII , but no, it's a completaly diferent game, a continuation, so you need to play the FFXIII to understand the story. But if you have not played this game before there's an option that tells you the story of the FFXIII. So you will not get lost.
About the battle system I did not liked it very much actually, You hava a limited lime to select your actions and the most suitable action for that time is "highlighted" for easy use, which kind of kills the experience, just keep tapping it every time and the AI will play for you..
The graphics are amazing.
Overall is a great game like expected.

Absolutely Amazing
Overall, this game is fun and enjoyable. Transition between one character class to another was seamless. In addition, I encountered virtually zero bug when I played this game. Kudos to the voice acting. It was well synchronised with the characters lip movement and equipped with emotions when needed. The party in this game only consist of 3 members. Unlike other Final Fantasy instalments, this game only introduce 2 human characters as permanent party members. The extra slot is up to the player to decide as it was reserved for ally monsters. Graphic is nice. Backdropped by good music score, this game can almost do no wrong. Gameplay is non-linear, it is entirely up to the players on how they want to tell their story. With that said, this game also possess high replay value as the players can revisit the areas explored and change history by altering the outcome of certain events which is better known as Paradox Endings. The battle system is great but same cannot be said for the story. Spoiler alert: The cliffhanger ending of this game is not desirable unless Square Enix is gonna make FFXII-3. The ending is open for discussion on where the game could lead next.
There is optional battle mode for players, Easy and Hard. It will be helpful should your characters are under-levelled or the boss is simply too hard to be defeated.
Conclusively, I highly recommend this game to any RPG fanboys or adventure-seeking players. It is worth your time to immerse yourself in this amazing game. Have fun.
Overall, this game is fun and enjoyable. Transition between one character class to another was seamless. In addition, I encountered virtually zero bug when I played this game. Kudos to the voice acting. It was well synchronised with the characters lip movement and equipped with emotions when needed. The party in this game only consist of 3 members. Unlike other Final Fantasy instalments, this game only introduce 2 human characters as permanent party members. The extra slot is up to the player to decide as it was reserved for ally monsters. Graphic is nice. Backdropped by good music score, this game can almost do no wrong. Gameplay is non-linear, it is entirely up to the players on how they want to tell their story. With that said, this game also possess high replay value as the players can revisit the areas explored and change history by altering the outcome of certain events which is better known as Paradox Endings. The battle system is great but same cannot be said for the story. Spoiler alert: The cliffhanger ending of this game is not desirable unless Square Enix is gonna make FFXII-3. The ending is open for discussion on where the game could lead next.
There is optional battle mode for players, Easy and Hard. It will be helpful should your characters are under-levelled or the boss is simply too hard to be defeated.
Conclusively, I highly recommend this game to any RPG fanboys or adventure-seeking players. It is worth your time to immerse yourself in this amazing game. Have fun.

so far so good
have just started the game for a few hrs. i'm liking it so far. however, i dont quite like the way you go into starting a battle.. i prefer the old FF13 way. anyway, overall, the game is still enjoyable nonetheless!

Feels unfinished...
I remember back when FF13 was in production, they have been news that the amount of discarded levels from 13 is enough to make a whole new game... well, FF13-2 feels just like Squarenix gobble together all the discarded materials and with minimum effort farts out FF13-2. That being said; I'm in my 37th hour into the game and I immediately set it aside once I got my hands on Diablo3. FF games used to mean something to me, but now Squarenix just keep going downhill. Hironobu Sakaguchi!!! why'd you left....

FFXIII-2 is one of the great game which all of the RPG fan and FF Fan must play.
The graphic quality is extremly nice, furthermore this episode give you more freedom to travel around time space.

This sequency of the original FFXIII is really a great game, even doesn't really "fitting" perfectly in what we've been playing from FFI to FFX or, maybe, FFXII. It gave us back some of the liberty that the series alway gave us instead of the "boring" linearity of the FFXIII!! It's a must have for the Final Fantasy series fans!!

Much more open that part 1
One of the biggest disappointments with part XIII was that it was way too linear, and luckily that has been addressed in this game. You can fairly freely jump between the different areas once you've unlocked them.

Final Fantasy is BACK!
I really liked FFXIII, however the game was to linear and most of times boring, the only thing that made me like him was the battle system and some characters.
So I was really sceptical about XIII-2, nonetheless I've bought him and I must say: It was worth!
The battle system is the same, however the linear gameplay is out, it's just like the old FFs, you got an huge world with tons of side quests, exploration, towns and even monsters to capture (like in X-2).
There's a lot of side story's, interesting NPCs and the crystarium system has evolved for the better.
The Cons I found is that the graphic some times are worst than in XIII and there are less CGs.
Also you should take note that the game has DLCs, for me it's not a big deal, however it my be a pain knowing that most those should be included with the game.
Now talking about this edition itself "Final Fantasy XIII-2 (English and Chinese Subtitles Version)" I must say that is outstanding, I know that the english only version is also good, however the original Japanese voices are way more natural and... C'mon Maya Sakamoto is in there!

A great jRPG
Tales is a jRPG in the classic mould, so it doesnt really break any new ground. But for those who like the genre, this is an excellent game. Whilst it doesnt really have any emotional moments like some other jRPGs, it has a lot of humour in it and is one of the few games that really makes me laugh. The combat is also fun, and there's tons of content - I spent over 100 hours on my first playthrough, just being completist.

Cool Collector's Edition
4-disc OST and the 20-page Artbook were a superb addition to an already fantastic game. The quality of the packaging is spot on. The new battle system is interesting and may take some getting used to but overall well worth every penny I spent.

FF XIII-2 Review, it's good.
Yes, original Japanese voices, with subtitles, what a goddess-send! Thank you Etro! I'm playing this mostly for the story/mythology. I find it very fascinating.
First the bad... music isn't as inspiring, or dramatic. I don't think I really care for any of the battle music, but some tracks from the first FF XIII are re-used. And not a fan of Serah's battle outfit. Sucks that it can only be replaced as downloadable content, but at least it can be changed. Her original clothes are the most stylish in my opinion.

Add fun elements back to world of FF13
FF13 was bored with just basic story, and this sequel have all we need: side missions, chocobo race, monster collection, casino.
But I only give 4 star, due to Square-Enix only give us basic slot machine, and dare to ask us buy DLC for casino additional content!

A fun RPG with a ton of content on the side.
I had a fun time playing this game. They improved on the first game by making this game way more open ended when compared to Final Fantasy XIII. I enjoyed the gameplay a ton, capturing and growing your own monsters is great. It took me 25 hours to complete the main story but there's a heckton of side missions and bonus content along with DLC to keep you playing for hours more. The graphics are amazing. Unfortunately the story isn't amazing in my opinion. I can't say it without spoiling it though.
If you enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII you'll probably enjoy this too.

Tthe American version of FFXIII-2 doesn't have the original japanese voice track (thanks alot Square Enix). Thankfully, Play-Asia has this Chinese version available so that I can play the game in the language it was written, with all the correct nuance and emphasis.

Great improvement for the prequal!
To be honest, in the begining I was a little meh... wtf this stuff is just the same, but later in game the story gets really touching. I won't comment on the endings but look forward becuase all are nice.
I noticed though, that some battle dialogues weren't subtitles, but then again... is not like it will ruin your experience. Enjoy! It's a great game!

If you played ff13 and love to continue on the story, you should definitely check this out. or if you didnt love ff13, you should pick this as well because as for me I didn't like ff13 but I enjoyed this game and collected all the secrets in the game. hoping for ff13.

Certainly better then the subpar FFXIII
If you are interested in this game, and would prefer to play it with it's original Japanese VO... Then this is pretty much a no-brainier. Also includes some of the songs that were cut or changed for the English release.
Upcoming DLC can be bought off the HK store for this version as well.

Wow... I love this serie... it's another excelent game from Square Enix. I liked so much the story, the characters, the music... but the best for me are the graphics... I like so much the cinematic sequences. Excelent.

This game truly improves on FF-13, giving more freedoms, towns, side quests, and world exploration. The combat system is smoother than its predecessor, and the storyline is less convoluted and more direct. Battle is also easier.
The cons is that the music is not memorable and battles may slow down due to high frame rate sometimes. Easy battles may not be the cup of tea of all gamers too.

new additions made this sequel more entertaining and the reason I gave it a 5.
I disregarded the sometimes "bad" background music which I think is not appropriate on some places, and that I have wished that there are other playable characters aside from Sera and Noel.
Square Enix still did their best here. this is still worth buying and playing! :)

If you didn't like the linear hallways of FF13. This is a welcome change. However you can only use 2 characters for the whole game and the story makes even LESS sense if that's possible. Still worth experiencing for fans.

this game is better than ff13 in more ways. i like the new monster system but it's a bit hard to get the best monster that you want. story is actually good. love the minigames as well makes it feel like ff7 again. good game if you're looking for an rpg to play

Honestly i haven't played FF13, and i probably should, but i guess i'll finish playing after this.
Graphics/Artwork seems great, just like FF13 that i saw my friends played. There appears to be a unique costume that comes with the game when i ordered it, if you find it in your game case.
Game Play: Battle system is quite unique, but takes a while to get use to. The ability to use a monster fight aong side seems much needed, since you need someone to tank for you at most times. It gets quite addicting once you start understanding the system.
I only played about 20 hours into the game and only in about stage 3 because i got addicted in the battle system and was power leveling and catching monster the whole time. Monster ability and leveling is still quite confusing at this point because apparently you can infuse them and make a even stronger monster. This apparently may take time and better planning to make a nice battle combo.
Language: If anyone was confused about buying this due to not reading the language just as i was, this is 100% in English, but with Japanese voice just as it was indicated. You also have a choice to switch it to Chinese subtitles as well.
What was also confusing was trying to figure out which role is better for each characters and which skills would be useful for later battle.
It looks like the story line can be played in any random order as if it was kingdom hearts, where you pick your planets.
Also seems pretty neat that each time you start playing the game, while loading, it gives a preview of what your playing so far. The game is addicting at this point and what makes it more interesting is....... You can throw your Moggle after unlocking a certain stage!!

Better thn final fantasy 13 in every way .. But only 2 playable characters n that of course without lightning.. Battles are faster thn before but its take the satisfaction away coz is much happening and so fast that u dnt have any idea which player hitting enemies where .. N makers of final fantsy also cut the animations of players casting spells casting spells.. So if u take these 2 elements out of finalfantasy then wats the point playing the FINAL FANTASY series .. I remember the time i played FF7 u have eveythng ther player hitting enemies nice n clean n u can see their every move n thm casting spells like firaga thundaga n summons monsters like bahamut n odin that also fells good n Satisfied.. so i think final fantasy series dyieng .. Apart frm that final fantasy 13-2 is better thn ff-13.. U have lots of stuff to do including side missions .. But the game will be much better if they dnt mke that battle system so fast n take out the sucking auto battle system coz this auto battle kind if kill the natural stratagies n thrill n juice out of the series i hope ff makers will return to old slow paced battles n cut this auto battle crap out of next games in the future n aslo will return the animation of casting spells .. This is Final Fantasy in its natural habitat (Japanese audio), but can be easily understood by English-speaking players.
Battle system is better than FFXIII. Monster raising is alright. Story-wise...eh, play it to find out. Plot is a bit weak, though.
This is Final Fantasy in its natural habitat (Japanese audio), but can be easily understood by English-speaking players.
Battle system is better than FFXIII. Monster raising is alright. Story-wise...eh, play it to find out. Plot is a bit weak, though.

Awesome sequel (8.25/10)

With only a couple hours into the game, here's my review for FF13-2 Chinese version.
- Story Line: 9/10
Awesome continuum of FF13 series, however, little cliff hangers. Maybe because I haven't finished the game yet.
- Game System: 9/10
Huge improvement and variety from FF13 in regards to the game system. Love the pet system that they added. More exploring can be done. However, maybe gameplay too short? For 100%, it'll probably take longer, however, just to finish the game it was probably too short, according to friends who have finished it quickly (30hrs).
- Presentation: 9/10
Graphics and CG are awesome as usual. Japanese voices, in my opinion are so much better compared to the English voices. Playing the game and understanding the story line how it's supposed to be. For the Chinese version, the English subtitles may be translated differently. So it may be confusing sometimes when you listen the Japanese voices and then compared them to the subtitles since they are incorrect sometimes.

The BGM could have been better. FF13 had awesome BGM tracks but FF13-2 was somehow missing them or went to a different direction. The OST was awesome. Loved it. However, BGM was a let down.

ligthning now wears a silver armor with feathers at the waist and the story is great monsters of the new system makes the game much more interesting if you are a fan or already interested Skin series Final Fantasy XIII-2 and optimal choice for someone who likes or I would like to try a new RPG.

A Good Follow Up
A worthy successor of FFXIII. Square Enix did a great job in enhancing the gameplay mechanics and brought a whole new life to the game by adding elements from something as simple as conversing with NPCs to exploration and side quests.
Story wise, albeit sharing some common elements from most JRPGs, it was told in its own unique way. If you're one of those who embrace every work of art individually and not collectively, then, FFXIII-2 has a story that is worth the hours of gameplay.
A good buy and a must have in your FF collection.

Story just doesn't satisfy the setup it provides. Overall package and game design is better than that of 13 which gives a bit more flexibility from progression point of view.
Without knowing how they will "conclude" the story it can be a bit of a let down for many.
This Asia version comes with original japanese voice acting with english subs making this version the one to get for purists!

Bought it, played it and what I can conclude is that the story is very weak. I kept yawning with watery eyes all through the entire game without really focusing on the essence of the story no matter how hard I tried. The game is too easy as well making it super less challenging. FF13 gameplay is way better than its successor. The good thing is the quality of the graphic. The sound reflect less of FF legacy as well.

Again this is a wonderful choice by Square Enix, to release a version where all the fans can get the best of both worlds.
Unfortunately the story this time around is not as great as FF XIII. Hence it's a 4 star.
However, it's still worthwhile to play as it continues the story of FF XIII.

Very pretty
Not sure I would prefer it as opposed to the pretty nice FFXIII, but it's still a pretty good game. Time travel, and a few things that I'd say about it that I find a little disappointing but they'd be spoilerific. Doesn't stop the game from being great!

The one thing that I don’t like about this one is the monster collecting, it’s gimmicky as hell and is just out of place; everything else’s is pretty awesome. since this story is based on time travel... you have to repeat same place again again again again again to complete story... and, you have to complete same place again again again again again again again to complet all fragments with reverse mode... it will be super hard to complete all missions without any help... BUT!! i really really really recommand to play this game without it... t... story is interesting... opening battle and ending + hiden ending is interesting... cinematic control is very interesting... BUT, there is no weapon upgrade / no party choice (only monster is availble) etc. .... 13-2 is very very similar to 13... they tried to upgrade 13... there are some inprovements... but, i prefer some elements in 13 ver rather than 13-2 ...

This is one of the best FF games other thn FF VII, Loving the story and battle system is so much better and you get Gill after battle this time. I give it a 10/10. oh and the boss battle music reminds me of Blue Dragon
