description

Aksys chose a rather appropriate date to release Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom in North America. Their romance game will arrive on February 14 aka Valentine’s Day.Hakuoki follows Chizuru Yukimura who travels to Kyoto in search of her father. When she arrives she meets the Shinsengumi,a group of young men who keep the streets safe. Just in time too because strange things are going on, but somehow Chizuru still has time to find the man of her dreams. That’s the game’s core, after all.If you’re not familiar with Hakuoki or the otome genre read our interview with Aksys where Frank "Bo" deWindt II and Ben Bateman speak… passionately about their work.

Amazing period romance
I decided to try this on a whim not knowing this would eventually become one of my favorite games within the genre. There is enough blood, sweat and tears to go round, with romance on top. The main story is good but it becomes better as it branches out into the routes. This game is somewhat more difficult than it's vita ports regarding the navigation of the routes, making it easy to miss out on some details. The story is captivating, the art is really beautiful and the voice acting is simply awesome. I really recommend this game, be it on the PSP or the Vita ports, as the skeleton of the story remained virtually intact, save for a few minor details.

No title
One of my favorite otome games out there. Great story and characters. It feels both light and dark in its setting, but that is what makes it great and brings forth great emotions.

An excellent game!
The game has English text with Japanese voice-overs, and is a really interesting introduction to the Shinsengumi and its captains - with an interesting supernatural twist.

There are plenty of paths and endings to explore, so you certainly won't run out of things to do with this game. All in all, highly recommended - there's plenty of play for your money, so you'll always keep coming back for more!
