Great game
Great game. I loved it right away. The visual style is great (a little bit cartoon like). The combat is deep and fun. You can develop your character as you like. You don't have a predefined class that you need to choose at the beginning. The environments are amazing. Five stars from me.

Had promise but too slow.
I like the look and feel of the game but the game just slows down about an hour in and starts to get boring. The achievements are to slow to come along as well.

The West keeps proving time and time again they have taken the RPG crown away from Japan. The J-RPG may have been king back in the day, but no longer and this game is another notch in the West's belt for RPG supremacy.

A good game, if you played before Skyrim (like a friend of mine said) if not play it for the plat.

Great action RPG
Considering the amount of things to do in this game and its visual, in a sense it can be said that this is an "offline WoW", however, the combat is much more akin to action games such as GoW or Zelda, and boy, is the combat fun.
It's simple, fast-paced and intuitive, being nothing short of fun with how easy it is to mesh different weapons and skills together to create unique attack patterns that fit your personality.
And that's what I believe to be the biggest draw of the game, with 9 different weapons, 3 different skill trees and not only ability to freely spend points in any of them, but actual rewards for doing "hybrid builds", you can truly tailor-taint the experience to what you prefer to play as or simply what you think to be "cool"
Bottom line, if you want a game that is simply great fun while maintaining epicness and not being too goofy, this is most probably the best you'll find anywhere.

Never thought of wearing captain Shepard armor in this era (Well, not the space suit but the theme design). The game play is easy to follow even for a novice.
Although different character classes to build but the key point is to play as who you want to become, replay value is high!

A combat-focused WRPG
It's amazing. It's like Big Huge Games took all the best parts of Fable, God of War, Skyrim, and nearly any other game they could get their hands on, discarded all the bad ones, and voila! the best gameplay in any RPG (or indeed, any game) I have ever played. Whether you're stringing along combos, or stealthily attacking from the shadows, to the little things, like the lock-picking or dispelling minigames, to the Junk system which allows you to banish any unwanted inventory item to the Junk pile, allowing you to sell it all with a single button-press, the pure and simple fun never stops. And of course, I have to mention the Destiny system. Unlike many other RPGs, where you pick a class at the beginning (say, rogue or mage), and be stuck with it for the rest of the game, here, you can change it dynamically to suit your preferences based on how many skill points you have in the 3 trees: Might, Magic and Finesse. So, you can focus all your points in one of those trees, and become the best goshdarned spell-slinger there is, or you can hybridize, and maybe use a longsword to deal with your enemies when they become too close for comfort. In fact, there's even a Jack of All Trades Destiny, which is acquired by throwing your skill points around all the trees. Of course, you can also pay a small fee (which gets bigger every time you use it) to reset all of your skill and ability points (ability points being used for any of about 10 trees, such as Alchemy, Lock-picking, and so forth). I said above, "stringing along combos". Fear not, there are no button combinations for you to memorize. It's all simple and intuitive, with 1 button each for the 2 weapons you can equip at once (any combination is possible, Hammer and Staff, Longbow and Chakrams (the really cool Frisbees of death you saw in the trailers), a block button, and a doge button, with the right and left buttons on the D-pad mapped to Mana and Health potions respectively. You can hold down R1 to bring up a list of your mapped abilities, one for each of the face buttons, or L2 for your Consumables Radial, which has a bunch of different slot which you can map to things like potions, smoke bombs, traps, etc. All in all, with a world as big and immersive as this, you'll find you'll never want to stop playing.

Worth every penny
I don't' really write reviews but I have to say that the first time I played this game was through the demo and I was already losing track of time with the game (getting stopped by the fact that the demo had a time limit per play). At first I wasn't sure to get this over Skyrim and I was also iffy as to whether I should really buy it considering how buggy the demo was, but after I've received my copy I thought to myself "why did ever think I shouldn't buy this?." The number of loots, the sheer expanse of the world, the multitude of quests...to make a point, there's just so much to do in the game that it'll probably keep me hooked for months or so on! This game was definitely worth my investment and I hope that such rare successful games can continue to be made.
If there's anything I'd have to complain about then it would have to be that it's sometimes annoying that the terrain isn't completely accessible like in the Elder Scrolls games or that you can only jump when there's a jump point, but more or less it's nothing so serious it would affect my fun.
Not wanting to end on a bad note, and to conclude, it's one of the best games I've played and I'm seriously upset that only 300 or so copies of the collector's edition was only ever manufactured.

Interesting New RPG
The first time I saw the gameplay of this game was wow, the moment I saw the graphics and gameplay it reminded me almost of WoW, and some similarities to Fable and The Elder Scrolls. Although a new approach to battle action RPG this game is exciting and with a good storyline to boot, especially since it was written by R.A. Salvatore.
I've played this first on my friends xbox and I just couldn't let go. It has a new interesting take on the fighting system which I believe could use a little more improvement along with it's many others. Also a bit disappointing is how the game is not entirely complete and you have to download other storylines and maps and pay$10 for them.
Overall this is an interesting and unique game which I recommend for RPG gamers.

Best RPG combat - Fantastic Game
This game doesn't have the story or the depth of other RPGs but it does have fantastic combat. The one thing RPGs normally fall down at is combat and that is where Amalur excels. The crafting is also very fun and the ability to change specs means that you can experiment and play around with what works best for you, without enduring multiple playthroughs. This is a must-buy for RPG fans.

Lost in Amalur
Written by one of my favorite authors for his detail and ability to create great characters. Followed by the twistedly beautiful visions of Todd McFarlane. This game is great. If you like games like Skyrim, where you can just loose yourself exploring every nook and cranny, then this is right up your alley. Seriously, I've already spent over 33 hrs and I haven't left the first region group, there are four more I believe to explore. Not including the new expansion that just released, definately worth price of admission.

Exceeded my expectation
It actually looks like an action game. It 's very fun. But not enough slot for all skills purchased. Changing them using menu would take time. If they put a way to place more shortcuts then I give them 5 stars.

Not bad at all
I was really looking forward to playing this game and had high hopes for it. And luckily, it didn't disappoint. Most of the quests are not that interesting (kill that monster, find these items, etc), but the action is very nice. The world is also very colorful, something that came as a nice change from the usual green/gray/browns.
Would definitely recommend this to RPG fans, and I think even those not so much into RPGs but fans of games like God of War may actually like this as well.

This is a great quest-filled adventure-- components of all the games mentioned above, with a little sacred 2 mixed in. The world is lush and believable. The only thing i wanted more from it was graphics-- i wanted graphics to kill, but instead am only slightly impressed.

Good Open-World RPG
Wont give 5 stars because there are frame issues at times.
But other than that, Great game... Enjoying it a hell of a lot more than Skyrim (May be personal preference) but im generally a JRPG player and this games great.
Also good to hear they may be making an MMO out of this IP. The game would be 10x more fun with a Online or Split Screen Co-Op
