features
- New kart abilities add to the wild fun that the games are known for. On big jumps, a kart deploys a wing to let it glide over a track shortcut. When under water, a propeller pops out to help the kart cruise across the sea floor
- Players can show their own style by customizing their vehicles with accessories that give them a competitive advantage. For instance, giant tires help a kart drive off-road, while smaller tires work best on city courses
- People can choose to race as one of their favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters or even as their Mii character
- New courses take players on wild rides over a mountain road, on city streets and through a dusty desert. Nintendo fans will recognize new courses on Wuhu Island and in the jungles from Donkey Kong Country Returns
- The game supports both SpotPass and StreetPass features
- Players can compete in local wireless matches or online over a broadband Internet connection

Drive 'like real'!
In 3D-first person using the motion-sensitivity, this game takes on a new level of fun! Collect Coins for speed boosts and to unlock new parts to customize your Kart!
Great races await you and your friends across many old stages and some amazing new ones (Wii Fit Island and a brand new Rainbow Road, plus more)
The only sadness I have is that they didn't decide to keep Bikes from Mario Kart Wii.

Good But Not Great
Mario Kart has been Nintendo's stable franchise that was released in almost every console that Nintendo has made.
This time, Mario Kart 7 definitely delivers some unique gameplay that makes it more interesting but not enough to distinguish from previous games. Sure, racing underwater and gliding across tracks gives it a minor twist but it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. So don't expect anything wildly new.
There are many tracks that are fun, wild and tight. You won't ever get bored with some of brilliant level designs that Nintendo and Retro Studios, developers of Metroid Prime Trilogy & Donkey Kong Country Returns, has made and it will keep you entertained for a long time, especially with online capabilities.
Speaking of online, it has been dramatically improved and I say it is better than Mario Kart Wii in that term. However, I did have some connectivity issues now and then even when my Wi-Fi had full bar.
The only downside of Mario Kart 7 for me is the roster. There aren't many characters as Mario Kart Wii and some of key characters are replaced with minor characters that nobody really wants (ehem, Metal Mario). However, now you have the ability to customize your kart so there is definitely some more variety but not in playable characters.
Overall, it's a must-buy for anyone who has followed this franchise for years but those who are expecting something really different, then it's not a game for you. That said, Mario Kart 7 is still fun arcade racing game with some twists that is much more exciting than any other arcade racing game out there.
