余勝英 (元彪 飾) 獲攝政王賜「武生泰斗」金匾，卻遭岳江天挑釁奪去而被逼歸隱，徒弟一龍 (吳尊 飾) 及二奎 (韓庚 飾) 誓為師父報仇，艱苦練武長大後直奔上海灘，挑戰當時紅透半邊天的岳江天，兩人聯手下終令對方慘敗當場自盡，更將金匾奪回。岳江天女弟子席木蘭 (徐熙媛 飾) 為保戲班，不惜忍痛與兩兄弟搭檔演出，令三人捲入錯綜複雜的愛情、慾望、欺詐和背叛的關係之中……

Yilong (Wu Chun) and Erkui (Han Geng) became apprentices of the opera star Master yu Shengying (Yuen Biao) when they were Young orphans. Years later, the boys go to Shanghai on a mission but instead they become sensations of the shanghai opera scene along with the beautiful actress Xi mulan (Barbie Hsu), the protege and lover of their master's enemy Yue. But soon, their collective pasts catch up with them and all three ends up in a complex web of love, lust, deceit and betrayal, ultimately ending in tragedy....
