description
Return to the colorful wilds of Yoshi’s Island in a new platforming adventure for Nintendo DS.

A mysterious floating island has suddenly appeared over peaceful Yoshi’s Island. Soon after its arrival, a gaggle of kids vanishes from the island school. Thankfully, Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Baby Donkey Kong and Baby Wario manage to avoid being kidnapped. Now, Yoshi and the four young superstars must set out on a wild and colorful quest to rescue the kids and investigate the ominous island hovering overhead. Thanks to the power of Nintendo DS, all of the lush vistas and perilous paths of Yoshi's Island span two screens.

The Yoshis populating this wild and mysterious island take turns transporting the babies. Each baby gives Yoshi access to unique powers while they cling to his back: Baby Mario gives Yoshi speed; Baby DK gives him strength and the ability to climb vines; with her umbrella, Baby Peach gives him the ability to float high, and Baby Wario gives him magnetism (perfect for grabbing grown-up Wario's favorite things: coins!).

It's 2 times the size of the original one.
And i Meant that literally. Why? We play on two screens this time around. Unlike some other DS games which uses only 1 screen for the game and the other for menu or whatever. this game use BOTH screen for the adventure mode. Think of shooting an egg up the top of the touch screen and seeing it show up on the top screen. Fun? You bet.

And well the size might be 2 times bigger, but the character is 5 times bigger, that's for sure. Ever think of using Mario AND Wario in an adventure game? No? Then you should change how you think. Cause this game use Mario and Wario in a game plus 2 more.
All of which never happen before:

    Mario
    Wario
    Peach
    DK
    Bowser

    Weird I know.

Nothing much has change in the graphic and gameplay compared to the first game, so I won't explain that.

Seriously though, this game is worth buying, and is surely worth completing 100% of (Yeah right)

    Yoshi's Island DS
Ardent fans of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System would remember Yoshi's Island DS, arguably one of the more creative platformers out there. Yoshis, a tribe of vividly-colored dinosaurs inhabiting the island, are tasked with carrying baby versions of Mario and his friends through Yoshi's Island, trying to recue baby Luigi from the clutches of evil Koopa wizard Kamek. The game has features found in few other platformers - Yoshi can attack enemies by zapping a foe into its mouth with its tongue, and either spitting the enemy out or swallowing it to create an egg. These eggs can be fired at enemies, or other elements in the stage, to get coins in out-of-reach places or trigger translucent floating clouds. They even come complete with crosshairs for aiming. Short of dying instantly when you get touched by enemy (as in other platformers), the baby would fall off Yoshi's back, leaving the dinosaur to retrieve it before the timer runs out. This timer can be extended, by collecting stars placed throughout the various levels.

New to the DS version are Mario's friends - baby Peach, Donkey Kong, Wario and Bowser. Each baby gives Yoshi different abilities. For instance, baby Mario lets Yoshi run while baby Bowser does a mean fire-spitting. There is plenty of replayability in store for those who must colllect everything to complete a game. While you can simply carry the babies from start to end, you will have to use different young ones to collect all the items in a level. Some items may only be accessible by floating around with baby Peach, for example.

Yoshi's Island DS brings back memories of Yoshi and his baby charges. While most of the game's stages have little to distinguish themselves, this solid sequel will please fans of the Mario series and its spin-offs. Recommended for fans of the adorable dinosaur.

    Stupendous Fun Factor Fun!!!
Wow! They did it again! Nintendo has made the funnest game I've ever played on the GBA SP, called Yoshi's Island (I never played the SNES version, but I hear it was a doozy!). And now they come out with the DS variety, with some touch and balance for good measure. I really love this game. The whole concept. The fact that you can never "die" the way you do in the Mario games. (Run into a baddie as small Mario, and you instantly die.)

No, here you just lose your baby for a few seconds, and if you don't capture him/her soon enough, it's curtains!

Nintendo has added lots of creativity to this new effort, including new monsters, new bosses, and new skill sets to get from one level to the next. I see lots of reviews saying its more of the same. I guess so. But isn't that the story with most sequels? Even movies! So, why not bring back the most fun and exciting parts of the game that we all remember was so much fun. And don't we have a totally new "audience" of gamers. Gamers start young, my son is only 5. While he did play the original (when he was around 3) on the GBA SP (well original if you were born 10+ years after the life of the SNES), there are probably literally 1000's of new fresh gamers this game will appeal to.

As Yoshi's Island is my absolute favorite game of all time, I was a "no-brainer" as a potential customer of this one. Well, it was a "no-brainer." I happen to have some brains, as I love this game!

I would recommend any DS owner, or gift giver to pick this one up. I can't quite give it 5 stars (some of the gameplay and control are just a tad too frustrating) but the fun factor is way up there at 5 stars.

Great Game! Let's see more of this!

    lots of fun
I never played the original SNES version so this is a much welcomed game on the DS. from the 15 - 20min i have played so far it has been a very good game and i will enjoy playing all the way through when i get some time. worth a look if you like the Mario games otherwise you should probably give it a miss.
