Better, but still a far cry from it should be
It seems like SEGA can't let go of 3D. Every Sonic game that has been in 3D has had strange jumping and lacking design.
Sonic Generations is a change for good. It returns to the 2D with 3D graphics. If the game had been 2D game with sprites and using the original Mega Drive physics as a basis, this game would've been much better. Sure, it looks nice, but it plays wonky.
It's a worth purchasing, but not at full price. It's one of those games that is a nice addition to a library, but if you have an craving for Sonic, go play the four original MegaDrive games instead.

Sonic at his better shape
A great plataformer-racing game, great graphics, astonishing sound and sharp gamerplay: Sonic never was better. A must for Sonic Fans.

Not the best Sonic
Be warned - there is both 2D and 3D Sonic here - for nostalgia fans like me, the 2D levels are awesome (although its a little odd why there is midlevel loading and frame rate drops) but the 3D levels... well.. not quite so good.
