Ruri island is the last safe place in the world, it's magical canon keeps the warring nation's fleets at bay, yet it attracts a vast amount of monsters flocking to it. His chance to rise above his status came when the count of Ruri-island hired his troops for some dangerous missions, if he could impress the count enough, he could become one of the knights. And in the first mission, he was sent to a mysterious cave, there he acquired a mysterious power...
The game spots robust online and single player modes. The monsters are massive, so you might want to gather a group of warriors online to take them down. You can also see who is the strongest warrior by engaging in some player vs player fights.
The Last Story simply promises to be epic.

Being one of the target of the infamous Operation Rainfall, The Last Story is one of the best JRPG for Wii (if not the best JRPG for the 7th gen consoles)
Featuring detailed graphics, great story, superb english VA talent, and great combat system despite its unconventional JRPG combat, this game is definitely a must buy for JRPG-er everywhere

This is without doubt an excellent rpg, and probably the last one for the Wii. If you are a fan of Jrpg, you should not miss this game. It is from the same creator of the original Final Fantasy games. Very recommended.

Could've have been better...
This game is good though could've been great if not for the minor flaws that affected the game greatly.
Since the Wii doesn't have any good rpgs to begin with, I recommend this game for those fan of the genre. Other than that, I would say that casual gamers should skip this one because it is not for everyone.

Work of Art
The game is very beautiful and well done, starting with the box that mimics a book very well, through book illustrations and culminating in the game itself. I have not had a chance to play it properly, but the battle system in real time pleased me very, very different from other games of the same genre. A pity not to take advantage of motion sensors for some functions, but this does not diminish the luster of the game

This games has the autenticall Final Fantasy experience by Sakaguchi; the music, by Huematsu it also absolutely amazing. Mercenaries, Knights, sorceress, wizards, orcs. This is an excellent J-RPG that if you own a Wii console, you can't miss.

This game actually makes me want to play a different RPG.
From my subject statement, I will get flamed comments, but this game is basically a modernized version of Seiken Densetsu which is good. But the game is just not enticing enough to keep me interested, but still a good, solid title.
Well, this game plays like Secret of Mana, but the pace and atmosphere of the game are just weird. You are immediately thrown into a forest to battle your way to some boss which you obviously see again later from the way you beat him. Then you encounter some ghost wolf who you also cannot beat, but he just runs away after a certain amount of damage. You are also hit with excessive flashbacks which should be in an anime, not a game. The controls really take some time to get used to, I will say that. To me, it defies the logic of a hack and slash game on what they should be. It could be just because of the Japanese version since some other games changed the control mapping.
The bad out of the way, here is what to look for. This game is gorgeous with very detailed scenery, well-drawn characters, and interesting places to explore. This is definitely a show-off game. The music is OK too, but when you get stuck trying to figure something out, it gets very repetitive. An example was on the second boss, I had no idea what to do, the boss music didn't sound so epic after 10 minutes of clueless roaming. The voice acting is alright.

Hironobu's latest effort
I have to admit I haven't been a fan of Hironobu since he parted with SE, not because of SE themselves but rather his effort seemed underwhelmed compared to his previous works. Other than Ash I have played all his works and all were just acceptable experience. However This game seem to take a notch further down. If this gen isn't so lacking in JRPGs (NIS games are just down right terrible BTW) then I wouldn't have even thought of getting this.

A Substantial RPG on the Wii
I am glad that the Wii got this game. I was overall very satisfied with the game.
Visually the game is quite pleasing to the eye. Not just in terms of graphics, but the art style is very nice. In terms of audio, the soundtrack is fitting and the battle sounds make you feel right there.
Gameplay-wise, the different types of combat and skills that characters can use is interesting. The action is exciting and keeps you paying attention.
Overall, I enjoyed this game.

The Last Story = AMAZING
This is by far the most amazing game on the Wii. I can not believe how right this game feels to play. I only wish it would get translated faster so people can understand the amazing story behind this game. The game play is fun, exciting, fast paced, yet still holds that sacred RPG feel to it. The music is SUPERB, graphics are AMAZING, controls are WONDERFUL, the story is IMMENSE, and Hironobu Sakaguchi is a GENIUS.

It's like a combination of Anime, and Final Fantasy, with Nintendo's learning curve. Didn't beat the game yet, but the WiFi options are fun to do as well, although I never win. (>.

From the creators of Final Fantasy series back when they were good, this game delivered on its hype. Great music, great storyline, and great combat reminiscing the classic Final Fantasy 9.
The combat is surprisingly deep with real time strategy elements mix-in with action combat like Dragon Age 2 and Valkyria Chronicles.
This is by far not a traditional JRPG but it has everything one can hope for in a great JRPG.

the intro scenes drag on, and on. Characters are simple if said nicely, bland if you want me to be honest. There was definitely too much hype on this game after the perfection Xenoblade achieved. Xeno is an absolute "must-have" title, while Last Story is just another in the library of decent Wii titles.

I have to say it's been a while since there was a decent RPG for the wii to come out, and Last Story meets my expectations in terms of the story, gameplay and presentation. Sakaguchi and Mistwalker did a good job.
