Good Game at A Low Price
I have to agree with the review of this game being a little bit on the straight forward side. Played some levels so far, and it seems that gameplay is the same. But it is still a good mindless fun if you want to kill hordes of orcs coming your way.

Awesome
Space Marine is a great game. All W40k lovers should own this game. The sound is great, the combat is fun and the story is interesting (albeit predictable for the W40k fans). I loved this game. The Asian version works flawlessly on PAL console. The shooting and fighting mechanics works great.
I would recommend this game to everyone.

Just by looking at the game title, you know that this game will be bloody awesome. You have bloody war between goblin and demon like enemy that set 40,000 into the future. Apart from guns you have an arsenal of side weapon at your disposal like sword, chainsaw, hammer and jet pact that you can swat your enemy like fly. This game is non stop over the top action with not so bad story either. There is no denial this game looks like Gears of War clone but is not a bad thing, it is non stop crazy action with no cover system make this game bad*ss.

Marines of War
A little rought around the edges but this game is pure carnage. Tear through hordes of Orcs with your chainsaw or shoot them from afar with a Lascannon -- it's all in a day's work for the Space Marin and it is fun, fun, fun!

Hammer 'em All
Yeah its bloody violent but I totally lovin it. Easy combo with kick-ass weapon. The soundtrack and action is heart pounding. This game got mediocre reviews... but to me its a great game!!

I find a resemblance to Gears of War mixed with starcraft, however is entertaining, has good graphics, a little flaw in the story, but the gameplay is good, in short highly recommended considering the price.

I dont know anything about this warhammer universe and this 40k story.
I bought the game because it looks very bloody and cheap. And, in fact, it is.
But it is also a great game. There are boss-battles, weapon variety, good characters (you start liking the giant SpaceMarine Captain immediately).
Its always a pleasure to use that chainsword to cut orcses.
The game is a little bit short, and there is no closure in the story. So I really hope to see a sequel. I wont spoil the ending, but when you finish the game, you may be very angry with the events.

It's better than you might think.
I originally thought that it might just be your standard generic third person shooter and in some ways it is, but the games able to provide a great mixture of entertaining combat (mixture between hack n slash and shooter) and prim visuals. I played the demo before I bought it and the demo definitely sold me, I recommend doing the same and seeing how it works out for you.

Big fan of everything that is Warhammer and even more the 40k universe. The bolter sound could have been a little heavier, and there is no cover system, but for the rest the game is perfect. Spacemarines, orks, chaos (no tyranids :( or Eldar) cool graphix, nice voice acting and the evironment (eventhough sometimes a little boring inside the factories) is supurb. Very atmospheric and the mutliplayer is also very nice. Note: dont buy another region version if you want to get the DLC later!

Caution on online game
Just a word of caution that the online pass that come together with the korea region can only be redeem in korea psn, i ended up paying extra to buy the online pass for my region which unfortunately isn't korea. Otherwise, Great game!

Entertaining
It's a nice combination of an action game and a third person shooter! Makes it very exciting as you can experience shooting and awesome melee combat in one game. Different from previous Warhammer series so it makes for a nice and refreshing change! The multiplayer is fun.

Overall game quality doesnt feel too polished. But above average hack/slack/shoot game. Shooting mechanism feels very simple too. Best aspect of the game is that you can really mow down hoards of enemies, and enemies are not push overs like dynasty warriors.

I thought it'd be nothing more than a gears of war rip-off, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the combat is melee based, with a bit of shooting for good measure. Graphics and sound are good too..

For Warhammer 40K Fans
Its a nice 3rd person shooter like Gears of War but lacks the fun and joy of that game. It has a nice story but unless you are into the whole Warhammer world this wouldn't be to your liking. The AI seems absurdly stupid by attacking only you and not your team mates at all.

Fits the canon.
I've been into the 40K universe since around 1990 so was really hoping they would make it feel like I was a Space Marine and not Marcus Fenix, Relic have succeeded.
The game is truly visceral and is tremendous fun whether using ranged or melee combat. As you may know there is no cover, if you are familiar with the canon of 40K you will know, a Space Marine IS cover.

Final words, buy it if you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 you must own it. If you are a fan of action games there is also much to enjoy. As a studio famous for RTS I'm amazed at how good Space Marine has turned out and can only hope Relic are given the opportunity to build on this awesome action title they have produced.
I've been into the 40K universe since around 1990 so was really hoping they would make it feel like I was a Space Marine and not Marcus Fenix, Relic have succeeded.
The game is truly visceral and is tremendous fun whether using ranged or melee combat. As you may know there is no cover, if you are familiar with the canon of 40K you will know, a Space Marine IS cover.

One for the Fans
Great Game and it plays well on my Xbox 360 - good balanced play, its a pity they didnt include the awesome 40k vehicles. If you are a 40k fan, then this is a must have.

Closest to gears that PS3 owners can get
This game will remind you of gears. The setting is similar, the camera angle is familiar but ofcourse there is no cover mechanic like gears. instead of that it has a melee combo mechanic that is similar to god of war. I quite like the characters and the fiction of the world. The graphics are nice and smooth. The textures are not as detailed as gears. But when the action heats up and the screen is filled with orcs the framerate stays remarkably steady and the overall game mechanic is solid enough to warrant a purchase.

Great Fan-service for Warhammer 40k fans
Game is great in visually capturing what makes warhammer 40k it is right now. Although the game does lack some polish for the first game it captures the look & feel of the universe in 3rd person perspective shooter very well.
Think of it as somewhat of mix between gears and any one of the musou series. Shooting and melee mechanics are very competent and they know how to throw volumes of enemies for you to fight.

A quick look at it and it may very well appear to be a standard button masher but the combat is so much deeper than simply mashing the same button over and over again to get results. Fun combos and even more fun Executions set this game apart and thrown in on top is some of the best shooting you'll see outside of the AAA First Person Shooter titles.
Even if you're not a 40k fan, this game is definitely worth taking the time to have a look at.

Great expectations but fail in many areas
gameplay is good, storyline is interesting, but this game is mainly meant for multiplayer online play. most of the extra features you earn from playing kill team etc are for multiplayer only. anyone without an xbox live gold account is truely just wasting their money getting this game.... i would have preferred that the game allowed you to gain levels and reward you with different weapons in single player rather than multi player. having the game level and format similar to kill team would have been better.

Well sometimes it could seem repetitive but what game is not repetitive?
Price is really a bargain (here is 99 francs, something like 110$) but on play asia only 40 francs XD

Firstly, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is a great game with an interesting storyline and a enjoyable multiplayer experience.
It's an easy game to get involved in and provided you've played a third-person shooter (or FPS) before you shouldn't have a problem surviving for your first 'tour' online. If you have a good squad playing alongside you then that's even better.
And now the BUT...
The game comes with an Elite Pass to play the multiplayer game. This code allows you to advance beyond Level 5 and therefore continue to unlock weapons and other customisations. Without the code you will remain at Level 5.
The problem is. This code only seems to work with ASIAN Xbox Live Accounts. I have a Japanese account and this code does not work for me. Why THQ and Micro$oft had to region lock such a stupid code is beyond me.
You can purchase a code for the game online through the Xbox Marketplace ($10 I think), but again I think it might only work for the disc region (as my Japanese marketplace denies purchase).
So, great game, but buyer beware!!!
