Welcome to this week's Games Update, our weekly summary featuring all new product arrivals from the last seven days. Releases have more or less calmed down, perhaps the majority of people have packed up their tools for the Christmas season? Nevertheless, some hot developers have released their shooters, fighters and adventure games, so you won't be bored.

Taito's stellar shooter Darius is coming to the Sony PSP. With the wide screen and high resolution graphics, you can better admire the chic, fish-like air ships and enjoy the excitement of shooting the aliens down.

Darius PSP takes us to the farthest future. It follows the storyline in Darius Gaiden. In the first installment of the series, Planet Darius is attacked by the Perusas and a number of the residents fled to Planet Vatis. These people are now trying to make their way back to their mother planet.

Pilot your silver hawk, make use of your bullets, your bombs and arms (shields). Collect items to power them up and head off to wipe out your enemies' bases. There are several modes, you clear stages and fight bosses in the Arcade Mode, take up missions in the Mission Mode and clear the game under stringent rules in the Burst Mode.

NeoGeo Online Collection Box sets have all of SNK's vintage fighters. Taken from the arcades and ported to the PlayStation2, these upgraded games have new modes and better graphics in general. These are not only games, they are collector's items, look how classy the game discs are in their respective boxes.

Guitar Hero is featuring Van Halen. So hop on stage now with your guitar, strum a few notes, jam with friends and do some head banging. The game has one of the most comprehensive list of songs from the band, including solos and guest performances, choose and pick which stage you want to perform and go for it.

Put all you've learnt in the classroom into use in Lina no Atelier. The girl has just gotten her license to perform alchemy, and already she is forced by the fairies to use it to redevelop their villages. Go out into the wilderness to gather items, slay monsters and enlist the help of friends to manage the new village.

After exploring villages are other war zones, come back to the city. Akihabara is in need of a new image girl, take your Lucky Star favourite to the auditions in Net Idol Meister. Venture into the mysterious islands and meet magical girls in MagusTale Eternity and find out about your secret guardian angel in Nizu no Senritsu.
