description
In XCOM: Enemy Unknown, you are put in control of a secret paramilitary organization known as XCOM, and as commander, defend against a terrifying global invasion of aliens. Success hinges on resource management, technology advancements, and perhaps most importantly securing victories with superior combat tactics.
XCOM is the re-imagining of the classic tale of humanitys struggle against an unknown enemy that puts players directly into the shoes of an FBI agent tasked with identifying and eliminating the growing threat. True to the roots of the franchise, players will be placed in charge of overcoming high-stake odds through risky strategic gambits coupled with heart-stopping combat experiences that pit human ingenuity and frailty against a foe beyond comprehension. By setting the game in a first-person perspective, players will be able to feel the tension and fear that comes with combating a faceless enemy that is violently probing and plotting its way into our world.

Very good
BUT you have to know what you're in for. This isn't like RTS games, it is turn based and if you make a mistake it is punishing. That said, I am so into the thinking and strategy I spent 3 days on a base assault. When I got it (one squad member loss) I felt like I had done something great.

Great game
It's been about 15 years since I first played Terror from the Deep. Enjoy this strategy game but the graphic should improve a lot as it is really like old version PC game even playing on 46" LED TV. Also, no sorting on the soilders in terms of their capacity, age, male/female, nationality...etc. Also, Alien will attack XCOM base in previous XCOM games but not for this time, it would be more challenging if alien can attack the XCOM base and make some damage to facilities. Lasty, there is a few alien types, more types is more fun and some alien can even pretend citizen, it needs some scanning device to identify which citizen is human and which is alien. These suggestions can make the game more challenging and somehow different from FPS games.

Great game, but......
This is a GREAT game, but I think as a strategy game its only a good game. I had a blast on my first play through. But it was a little too simple as far as strategy games go. Maybe even the most simple. I am HUGE fan of Front Mission 3 type games and Advanced Wars series on the DS. My biggest complaint about this game is that it relies too much on pure luck. On the normal setting this isnt a problem. Luck is mostly on your side and can just re-load your game when it isn't. They have an "ironman" mode in this game which is REALLY exciting. It means you can't reload your game. It is only forward moving save system. If a team member dies. They are DEAD! It really puts the tension on. I tried playing ironmon mode on classic difficulty since I totally smashed the normal campaign. I was doing everything perfect and basically game over because of bad luck. Reading online many people lost 5, 6, entire games and all because of badluck, not lack of strategy. This game is GREAT, but instead of playing it a 3rd time and probably loosing, it just made me want to go and play other strategy games that are a little more complex and leave more up the players ability rather than chance.
