Bought this since my original Xbox finally died.
Size is not much smaller compared to the original, but so much quieter!
With bigger HDD (bought the 250GB version vs the old 20GB), I can install most of my games for quieter gaming session.
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase!

A true differentiator in video games
I'm sorry to have waited so long to buy the NTSC-J 360. The platform is solid and has the best access to shoot-em-ups that I've ever owned.

Got mine yesterday and I'm very happy. I was worried about the power supply but the block is 220-240, so all you need to get grinding is a small piece of plastic so it physically fits in the socket. No additional investments in step downs or different power blocks required.

Could have been the original XBOX 360
This is so much better than the original launch system & it's many revisions (Falcon, Opus, Jasper, etc.). Cool, silent, & wi-fi ready. The larger HD is also a great addition. I would have preferred the controller with the transforming D-PAD instead of the bundled one.

Very efficent ordering and shipping from Play Asia. The new Xbox is a great upgrade from one of the older models. Very quiet and i managed to get rid of all the extra cabling and transformer which was required with my old Japanese model.
Also a nice surprise to find a matte black Xbox instead of the shiny one. Plays great. Looks great.

for a while i have been thinking about getting a asian/japanese xbox360, the main reason is for the number of shoot em ups, i chose the asian xbox instead of a japanese one, simply because of the voltage, so i did not have to get a power converter, japanese ones run at less voltage so would have needed one.

250gb and that's huge!!
I'm glad I bought this machine and 250gb hard drive is not something you can easily fill, so far I only used 1/5 of it's space. AND I heard the RROD is gone but I don't really know because I haven't seen some reviews of it come out anywhere.

Finally, after years, I bought myself an NTSC-J Console. Instead of having to buy a step-down converter, call their local Xbox Customer Support line and order a local power supply which works out cheaper and a whole lot simpler.

Microsoft got it right. This iteration of Xbox 360 console is by far the best: It consumes considerably less power, makes less noise, it΄s less prone to overheating.
If you've been holding on getting a XB360 for fear of the RRoD, then you should pick this version.

I finally own my long-sought after Japanese Xbox 360, and it is definitely worth it. Japanese region videogames will not work on a US-region Xbox, but most US-region games will work on the Japanese-region Xbox. It works like a charm and you don't run the RROD risk.

A definate improvement over the original
I purchased the new 360 slim just to have a spare but now it's become my main 360. It runs much quieter, has built-in wifi and the design is less cumbersome then the original.

This is my second Xbox 360 and I can really recommend it. The Slim 360 is very quiet and has Wi Fi Connection so you don't need a cable an anymore to cennect with Xbox-Live.
Finally you can play all NTSC-J Games and most of the ones from other regions too.

Lucky the Japanese Xbox 360 Elite Slim which doesn't run into this regional locking issues hardly at all (with only a couple small exceptions). Because very few NTSC-U/C games are regionally locked, where as most Japanese games are, you can get the most of your local library but also begin creating a collect of exclusive import titles.
Seriously it's an absolute must for shmup fans, no questions asked. Wither you want in on Cave's marvelous shmups like Do Don Pachi, or G.Rev's absolutely awesome vs. shmup Senko no Ronde: Dis-order Unit, this system has access to all of it.

New 360
I had no intention of getting a new 360 just for the hell of it, but mine just died recently. Its smaller, sleeker, quieter(except on certain games), comes with a huge HD, and wireless internet right out of the box. No RROD, runs nicely. Its a nice upgrade, and a nice console.

best shmup console out there
As a cave entousiast I had to have a jpn xbox 360.
As last revision of the old 360 this is in my opinion the best value for your money.
Cheapest xbox you can buy but without the rrod.
I recommend a hard or usb drive with this as the dvd drive still makes a lot of noise.
Other than that its a great system.

I recently purchased the JPN XBOX360 Arcade Console (New Experience) and it shipped surprisingly fast and plays like a dream! Heck, the wireless controller came with Duracell batteries not the cheap kind of batteries you usually find with wireless controllers here in the States.

The sound is almost like a movie theater. It functions perfectly if something is wrong then it has to be the disk like scratches but they can be installed into the hard drive and you won't have any problems! Graphics are outstanding! The design is excellent two memory ports, removable hard drive, and 3 USB ports. The controllers are a perfect fit in your hands, you get access to a ton of online players/friends to play, talk, challenge ect. with Xbox live a variety of different controllers and accessory's to try out in different styles, and sizes. A bit spendy, but. . .
Play Asia is a good merchant to go with and delivery was quick. No complaints with the machine itself - except for the avatars (I'm pretty sure that its not 7 year olds purchasing their systems and slicing through enemies with chain saws).

The UI of the XBOX is amazing, but hte red ring of death and no internal storage is bad. The graphics arent super b either, the ps3 slim is for the same price with mnore features.

After much hard debate on whether or not to get a 360 (so many appealing RPGs... ^^), I finally decided not only to just get one but to also make it a Japanese NTSC console from Play-Asia. I have not been disappointed at all by my purchase. First, Play-Asia shipped with incredible speed and is always courteous to my questions. The system has put up with my arduous play scheduling and continues to work great especially since most US games happen to be region-free (best of both worlds!) for whenever my friends bring over a game. Ordered on 4/28, received console 5/1 via FedEx. Console was packed adequately,so no issues there. The console has the latest Jasper chipset, and runs VERY cool. However, the DVD drive is very loud, and sounds almost worse than the original launch Hitachi drives (It does work fine though... So far). My advice is to install your games to a HDD if you have one. US HDDs work fine with NTSC-J consoles, so you can extend the life of your DVD drive this way. Definitely recommended. -1 Star for the loud DVD drive, but everything else is PERFECT! Good price too.

Xbox 360 is junk, I had xbox 360's 1 had a disc drive problem and the other 1 made lots of funny noises. the 3rd gave me the 1 red light error (gpu desoldered itself from poor manufacturing what I read online)

3 Red Light Problem
Do yourself a favor, pay more and buy a PS3, at least you will be saved from your future headaches. Even 60gb model gave me 3 Red Light error, and this is my third system broken (first one had optical drive problem, other 2 had 3 Red Light problem). X360 is a hardware junk, nothing else, and most importantly we customers are not test subjects. MS is dead for me in console market. I'm really sad that I won't be able to play Square Enix JRPGs anymore, but I would prefer not to instead of having headaches and nightmares because of this system.

The only thing that was not so good, was the 85 euros I had to pay for insertions rights(or how do you call this in English) and it had black and white screen on my tv. Before you buy it first check if your tv supports ntsc!. But that's already fixed, I got the tv from my parents :D

Guys, can't say a bad thing about play-asia, these guys are amazing! I ordered on a Monday, had it shipped within 24 hours (even though it had 1-5 days) and it arrived 2 days later. And they even included some goodies!!! (thank-you!!) You can't ask for more then that. 11/10 for play asia. The console itself is perfect for Australian importers! Works absolutely awesome once you have bought a plug converter, and extremely easy to set up with a LIVE account :) It all came with what is said on this page, with nothing broken during transit! Also crystal clear picture through component :) Don't hesitate to buy! + games are much cheaper! Mostly half price!!

This is the perfect import option. It needs no step down convertor, all I need was a convertor from UK plug to AUS plug and it was good to go. All the games I have purchased so far are in English so the language barrier doesn't exist (it may well do if you are looking at getting some of those Japanese only releases).
All this at a very nice mark down from AUS retail. I save roughly $50-60AUS per game depending on dollar strength. Dont hesitate, buy now

Asian PRO 360 just great
It's just great that people like me are able to buy this asian version of x360 only for 399$! Here in Russia i would buy only premium Pal version which has no differences, but games for asian x360 is much more cheaper and almost all have english support!

It has been confirmed that a number of US games work with the Japanese Xbox 360. However, the demo version of Final Fantasy XI is not worth your time. It TAKES 3 Hours to INSTALL, and the game doesn't seem worth your time. Seeing as how this product is selling for over $600 on ebay, this seems like a pretty enticing buy.

Great Console
The harddrive only has 11gigs free. The premium package is actually 399, but this comes with the full version of the final fantasy 11 beta, and delicious strawberry candy, although I am scared to play it, I may eventually before the beta is over. Also everything was incredibly easy to setup and the 360 is simply a devastatingly powerful unit.

I bought a Japanese 360 and it rocks! I bought the American version of Call of Duty 2 and it works perfectly. Plus I didn't have to stand in the middle of the night freezing, I just clicked and the system arrived to me within 2 days! Plus it works with the American version on Halo 2. This is definitely worth it!

I already purchased a 360 here in the states, but once I saw this 360 japanese version for only $50.00 more dollarw than the us version I knew I had to pick it up. I can't wait to try the final fantasy demo either. I also picked up every party and tetris!!!!
