A peek at Tokyo Game Show 2011: See the new releases, figures on display and meet the booth babes before the crowds rush in!


It's that time of year again. Autumn marks a lot of celebrations, but the one that drives gamers high is the Tokyo Game Show. The theme of 2011 is "Kokoro ga Odoreba Sore wa GAME desu" which translates roughly as "The thing makes your heart dance is a GAME".

Are you excited? Feel your heart beat quickening? Let's go then.

There weren't many big announcements in the last few years, but a great load of games. This year is going to change. Sony is announcing the release of their newest portable console PS Vita and the rest of the developers are coming together to show off their 2011-2012 hits. And that means a lot of hits.

The show commences from September 15th to 18th. Since today is a business day open only to the press and the staff in the game industries, the crowds aren't quite so large. Join us on a tour and take a look at the new releases before the crowds rush in:

Sony PlayStation

Sony, the one with the big announcement this year shows off their PS Vita. The handheld will arrive on the 17th of December. Participants can feel the weight of the consoles, press the buttons and see the line up of games here. Also take a look at the new Limited PlayStation3 consoles:

Microsoft Xbox360

Try out the newest games such as Ninja Gaiden 3 and Halo. Besides fighters, there are racers such as Forza Motor Sport and family games such as Kinect Star Wars:

Square Enix

Square Enix always has a lot to show off. This year, they are announcing new releases in their hottest franchises such as Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Type-0 and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance:

Capcom

Last year, Capcom had one of the most unique booths at their Monster Hunter section. This time they built their village again, so hunters, join the guild:

Sega

Sega is ripe with idols, both from the real world and from the cyber world. Ryuga Gotoku Kurohyou 2 is announced, come and meet the cabaret club girls. Miku, too, is doing promotion for Project Diva Extend and preparing for her debut on the Nintendo 3DS with Project Mirai:

Sega's Prize figures are very popular. Although their quality is very high, they are very reasonably priced. Besides Prize figures, they also have a team of beautiful ladies from the Shining series and the fallen angels from Panty & Stockings with Garterbelt. Konami

Konami's booth attracts huge crowds. Under the series of posters are trial versions of their newest games such as Frontier Gate, Senritsu no Stratus, their ace rhythm action series Pop'n Music and Metal Gear Solid. We have caught Kojima on stage, meet this godlike figure behind the bestselling Metal Gear franchise:

Bandai

Bandai Namco Games has their stable of anime related game titles and their Tales series. Tales of Xillia, one of the most popular RPGs in the recent weeks is having its time in the spotlight. But don't neglect the new games that are coming, such as Saint Seiya Senki, Puella Magi Madoka and One Piece Gigant Battle 2:

Koei
Koei takes gamers back to the chaotic era where they may become daimyo in Japan or the high ranking generals in China. The developers also announced more information on their newest, most anticipated game: One Piece Musou.

Smaller booths and cute mascots

Two game developers are announcing games that are very much looked forward to. Arc System Works is releasing the newest episode in Blazblue and Persona 4 The Ultimate - a fighting game that involve the cast from Persona 3 and Persona 4. Acquire is releasing Gladiator and doing promotions for the Totomono series.
