Ace Combat 0 = Ace Combat 5.5
I am glad I haven\'t bought the original version that came out in March 2006 & purchased this low price version instead. The game is an add-on to the Ace Combat 5 game. Besides story-wise it is the prequel of Ace Combat 5, so what more do you expect? However this doesn\'t mean at all that the game is bad. I am a fan of the Ace Combat series (AC from now on) and I think that every fan of the series should own this game. But somehow when you play it you feel like you have purchased an add-on. The mission number is relatively scant with only 18 main-shaft missions (some of them have alternative course of action). Most of the planes from AC5 are back with a few additions (the best plane added is the ADFX-01 Morgan).
The soundtrack does not live up to the expectations that AC5 created. They added acoustic guitar in order to provide a Spanish flavor to the music score, but in general the music themes are not something special. Additionally some cues from the AC5 soundtrack are arranged and incorporated in the AC Zero soundtrack. The trump card of the OST is the music theme \"Zero\". That indeed is so lovely!! Overall the OST is good/satisfying but nothing special a I said.
Something noticeable in AC Zero is the upgraded A.I. Some enemies are really tough nuts to crack and are really tenacious when they hunt you down.
Overall (as I said) the game is not bad. I cannot characterize it a mediocre AC game neither! But if you expect a lavish/ integral AC 5 sequel then you are lying in deceit. After playing this, I am awaiting eagerly the transition of the AC series on PS3!!!!!
