Hard game, yet so challenging
For a beginner in this game, you will find that boss battles in this game are really difficult. Moreover if you take wrong approach in it. One thing I didn't like is the duration for normal battle which could take 10 minutes or longer. Well, I think that is standard for SRPG like this, though. But overall, this is great game especially for the fans of Agarest Senki series.

Agarest Senki Zero (Compile Heart Selection)
Well...a so called "complete edition" for Agarest Senki,
almost the same thing as the original Agarest Senki,
but how can a fan of this series resist this?Considering for its selling price, its still worth to buy one and keep as your collection.

A prequle to the first Agarest Senki Zero that delivers an experience just as enjoyable as the first one.
Agarest Senki Zero is a prequel to the first Agarest Senki (also known as Record of Agarest War in the US and EU). The story takes place a thousand years before the first one. Just like the first Agarest Senki, you'll take your hero throughout their respective journey through their generation and proceed on to the next generation. As you may have (or may not have) guessed, the soul breeding system makes it's return here and as just as much effect on your next generation heroes stats and looks. What's different here however is that in the beginning of the game, you select a arcana/class of sorts for your character, in which this determines the generation heroes starting stat's, what equipment they can use, and what kind of slots they have available to them initially and after they receive a class upgrade.
Graphics:
Getting into the beginning of the game, you'll notice that characters portraits now move and no longer remain stiff. This is a rather nice touch and character portraits look much better here as a result of this compared to the first Agarest Senki's still portraits. Graphic wise, the game has only gotten a slight upgrade in graphics, otherwise there isn't much of a improvement over it's predecessor.
Music:
While Agarest Senki Zero still sports a similar soundtrack as it's predecessor, it has a few new tunes spread throughout the game and sound quality wise the game has improved in that regard. Sound effects are largely the same as they were in Agarest Senki, which isn't a bad thing, but one could have hoped they would have chosen to improve upon this.
Overall:
Agarest Senki Zero is a prequel to Agarest Senki with some rather nice touches and improvements added in to help make it a worthy purchase alongside it's solid story. Fans of the first Agarest Senki won't be dissapointed despite a shorter story then the first one and newcomers should find Agarest Senki Zero a fine starting point in the Agarest Senki world.
