FIGMA - THE TABLE MUSEUM: DAVIDE DI MICHELANGELO

Release: May, 2016

Originally an unfinished piece from a massive block of marble rejected for it's many imperfections, a 26 year old Michelangelo was asked to complete the task; the result is a perfect 14 ft statue depicting the Biblical hero David, represented as a standing male nude in gleaming white marble, and now in figma form.

While other contemporary interpretations of David have always seen the hero standing over the severed head of the fallen Goliath, Michelangelo instead, forgoing tradition, shows David before the battle; capturing the apex of his concentration, David stands relaxed, but alert in the classical pose known as contrapposto. The slingshot he carries is almost invisible, suggesting the virtues of a thinking man, thus keeping to the ideals of the Renaissance.

As with other Table Museum entries, David is just as articulate, and comes with different hand parts for various poses. His eyes will also move and he comes with a posable slingshot as well. In every case, this could be the perfect figma.

FIGMA - THE TABLE MUSEUM: VENUS DE MILO

Release: Janurary, 2016

Influencing many masters of modern and traditional art, the iconic Venus de Milo aka Aphrodite of Milos is the second figma to join "The Table Museum" line!

From a description on it's plinth, this alleged marble depiction of the goddess of beauty, love, pleasure, and procreation is thought to be convinced by Alexandros of Antioch sometime between 130BC to 100 BC. Today this masterpiece can be seen at the Louvre, and millions of admirers are drawn to her graceful beauty as well as the intrigue inspired by her signature missing arms.

In this figma, the mystery is partially solved as Venus de Milo comes packaged with her lost arms which can be attached for a series of somber or hilarious poses! As well, her Praxitelean drapery comes to life with the soft plastic material allowing for full and free movement and articulation. Finally, with artistic liberties, included is a representation of the distracting golden apples of Greek mythology, the perfect accessory for a deity of such charms.

FIGMA - THE TABLE MUSEUM: THE THINKER PLASTER VER.

Release: Janurary, 2016

A plaster re-skin of the first of Figma's new "The Table Museum" line-up - where famous sculptures and artworks come alive in articulated form, Auguste Rodin's 'The Thinker' aka Le Penseur takes center stage continuing his pondering!

Originally the centerpiece for a sculptural work called 'The Gates of Hell' which was based on Dante's The Divine Comedy, this bronze sculpture is one of the most recognizable sculptures in the world.

Like any figma, a flexible plastic is used for where the joints connect, so that proportions retain authenticity; the Thinker can be posed in any form you like, whether it be the silent, ponderous pose seen in real life, or a multitude of hilarious or strange poses too! As well, The Thinker also comes with a selection of head and hand parts and is also anatomically correct. Plus, there are two stands - one articulated and one is the 'stone' base!
