Item Description

A popular manga by Tetsuya Chiba which was later made into an animation series, Ashita no Joe started life in the 70s and saw a short revival from 1980 to 1981. Title character Joe Yabuki hails from the slums of Tokyo but finds his place in the world when a boxing trainer takes the uncouth punk in. With equal amounts of training and newfound discipline, Joe rises through the ranks of the boxing elite and eventually bouts against Rikiishi, his idol. During the fight, Joe accidentally kills Rikiishi with powerful head shots and watches his idol succumb. Afterwards, Joe promises to never hit an opponent in the head but he continues to dominate the sport with his deft skill and power. Capcom's Anime Super Remix features an assortment of nine boxing mini-games and 110 cels from the original Ashita no Joe 2 animation. Successful navigation and performance in the mini-games unlock additional mini-games and sets of animation stills. Once all of the games are conquered and all of the animation unlocked, a complete narrated episode of Ashita no Joe may be viewed. Think of it as your prize for doing good.
