Amazing JRPG
I never had the chance to play any other versions of this game, but it only exceeded my expectations. I think it suits the handheld well and it looked great on my DSiXL.

Spanning Time Again
Chrono Trigger was the RPG that got me into RPGs. It is probably the most memorable game ever to me and it will probably always be my favorite. I originally played it on the SNES, and then fairly recently, I played it on the Playstation. And now finally I decided to give the most recent DS version a try.

In terms of gameplay, the game is the same as the previous versions, except for the addition of a monster-battling arena and two new areas in the game. Essentially it is just a mini-game that allows you to raise a monster, which are just enemies from the game, and fight other monsters. It's a nice little addition but will probably not keep most people interested. The two areas added to the game provide new items and battles. They are nice to help provide more content, but since it is not story content, it doesn't feel as satisfying as the main game.

Visually the game is quite attractive on the DS, although I admit it does suffer from being on a small screen. On the other hand, people who played the Playstation version will remember that some people complained about loading times. While the loading times didn't bother me in the Playstation release, the DS version did seem to be quicker. The music in the game is just as memorable as ever, although I recommend using headphones to play this game to get the best listening experience since the DS speakers aren't the best.

While the DS version has its strength and weaknesses, at the end of the day Chrono Trigger is Chrono Trigger. It's an incredibly enjoyable games with one of the most memorable storylines ever. If you're a newcomer to Chrono Trigger and have no other way of playing it, definitely try this version. Even for long-time fans who may be skeptical about a new version might consider giving this game a try. It will give you nostalgia and send you spiraling back in time.

Perfect the way it is
This is the definition of an RPG classic. This game was awesome when it came out, and still awesome with this remake!

The combined effort by Square and Enix
Since the merge between Square and Enix, the two giants in the J-RPG market, people take for granted that they work as a team. Yet when it was announced in the early 1990s, you can imagin how excited players were to see the rival companied join the project. To many, it was a dream that came true. And certainly, Square and Enix did not disappoint us.
