Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
The Russians create a time machine and go back in time to assassinate Albert Einstein. Without the atomic bomb, the United States fails to gain military hegemony and world history changes as both Russia and Japan remain military superpowers in the 21st century. Welcome to Red Alert 3, the latest iteration of the Command And Conquer universe which once again got me all worked up as I rushed to set-up my refinery centres while cranking out soldiers, tanks and planes to defend my base while attacking the enemy's. Red Alert 3 stands out with its cute cartoonish graphics. The movie cut-scenes are really cool with many characters played out by celebrities. Russia's super commando Natasha for instance is played by Gina Carano, the sexy American martial arts champ. Her American counterpart is Tanya, played by Jenny McCarthy, actress, model and Playmate of the Year in 1994. The three factions - Japan, America and Russia - have very distinct strengths and weaknesses. The Russians excel in ground combat but has weak air defenses and is no match for American airpower. The Americans can build an airbase very quickly and can quickly churn out its Vindicator medium bombers. However, the best is the Japanese empire which offers versatility over raw power. Its Mecha Tengu and striker-VX can switch, Gundam-style, between ground to flying units, at will.
