Cool entry on the Series
Dragon quest monsters have always been a refreshing entry on the series. This version on the 3DS takes the full graphic power and enjoyment of the 3d environment to an already great franchise and makes it better. A total worthy pickup if you don't have it already. The setdown is the Japanese language which if you are not familiar with, you will enjoy less the experience. However, it is fully playable if you have already played the previous entries.

rideable monsters
The coolest new feature is the ability to ride monsters, you can ride any monster in the game and fish can go underwater. I'm a fair way into the game and haven't unlocked the ability to fly but it was advertised, I think it comes late game. The whole game is in Japanese, so reading the language would help a lot, my japanese is terrible but I soldier through. If you've never play a dragon quest monster game before it a lot like pokemon, mixed with an old school rpg. You have four monsters who you battle, and four in reserve. You collect and fuse your monsters together to make stronger ones. You can battle online. The character customization is lame you can only change colors, you can't do anything meaningful. There's no 3d. The game has a good difficulty curve, encouraging you to make stronger monsters. Its a lot of fun seeing what you can make, and the new pig in a sombrero monster is really cute.
