description

El Dorado Gate is console gaming's first serial RPG series, where each Dreamcast GD-ROM contains 3 seperate (though interrelated) adventures, each telling a story of one of the series' 12 characters. There's 7 volumes in all, the first few introducing the characters whilst the later volumes flesh out how their stories are related, leading to the finale. Volume One introduces Gomez, Kanan and Radia.

In the second episode, The Brave Swordsman Ellison, tells of the swordsmen Ellison and his role as bodyguard to a noble, as well as his love for the noble's daughter and his eventual quest to rescue her from evil. Finally, the game's third episode, Ein: The Artificial Man, tells of Ein's excavation from an ancient ruin. At the end of the second volume, the storyline will begin to connect with the first volume.

Interesting, but you have to really play all the games
It's an interesting game, and there's a full walkthrough on GameFaqs, but somehow it just doesn't feel as complete on its own. It's like you really have to play each volume of El Dorado Gate to completely enjoy it.

As a stand-alone, it isn't too bad. If your Japanese is poor though, don't pick it up.
