Emerald Dragon is an excellent RPG. The story is great, the characters are memorable, and the game's cutscenes show the technical marvels of the PC-Engine CD-ROM. The overall game is so good, it puts modern console RPGs with much higher graphics quality and production values to shame. There are a few minor flaws but they're not big enough for me to take away one star for the purpose of this review. The game deserves the five stars I gave it, period.
At the time of purchase, I actually played a friend's copy of Emerald Dragon. I already finished playing the game at the time I purchased a copy for myself. When I had the opportunity to buy a copy of my own, I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger on a purchase even though I already played it to the end and finished the game's side quests. It's *THAT* good.
Anyone who likes playing RPGs, especially RPGs for the PC Engine, should have Emerald Dragon in one's own collection. It's a game which should not be missed by owners of the PC Engine console and those who love playing console RPGs.
