description

Yokohama, 1963. Umi is a high school student living in her family's hillside home overlooking the sea. Every morning she hoists two signal flags towards the bay, sending a message to the horizon. A poem about the flags is published in the school newspaper. Could the author be Shun, the daring newspaper editor who has drawn Umi's attention? While the two teenagers join in the campaign to save their school's old clubhouse, their budding relationship takes an unexpected turn when they discover a secret surrounding their past. In a Japan at the crossroads of tradition and modernization, Umi and Shun share a moving story of friendship, love and hope. The film's rich and vibrant imagery captures perfectly the thrills of young romance and the hope of a new dawn.

No title
As always, the blu ray transferred was done perfectly, great sound , colourful and beautiful picture quality. Story wise, it's quite touching for me, which is telling a girl's life, who patiently await for his father return, who serve as country sailor in the war. Between, something wonderful happen in her life which she met a nice guy she loves, but things happen, I am not gonna spoil anything here, u just have find out yourself if you wanna know the ending. Well, I would say this is a great piece of work from Miyazaki junior, as it deliver the emotional charge whenever it should be. Enjoy it.....

Excellent film!
Without spoiling the story, if you enjoy all the styles of Studio Ghibli, you will enjoy this. I don't want to spoil the plot, but basically this film is more romance themed like some of their older films rather than heavily magic/fantasy themed like their last few. It has good Animation, the music is nice too, overall it is a very enjoyable experience. Then again I am not a very fussy reviewer like some who always a critic and never give any film a 5/5 ;)
