A Blast from the Past in every way
Hudson\'s Star Soldier remake really took me back to the arcades of the eighties. Apart from the updated look, everything plays and feels just like in the golden days of twitch gaming - including the music, that, although horrible, is somehow so fitting... Loudness, anyone?

An enjoyable update
Hudson\'s update of Star Soldier will be familiar to those who\'ve played the NES original (not many on actual NES hardware i would imagine!) and also any of the \'Soldier..\' series on the PC Engine. As updates go this is how it should be done: a game which looks to the original but hasn\'t be developed as complete carbon copy. The gameplay is definitely 80s and early 90s shooter style and offers a contrast to modern shooters, concentrating more on constantly differing enemy attack types and patterns, rather than weaving through the hypnotic bullet ballet of games like Psyvariar and DoDonPachi. You\'ll have to watch every angle and corner for incoming enemies here! The whole package is well presented, with several gameplay modes (normal games plus shorter 2 minute and 5 minute all out attack modes) and there\'s a healthy selection of bonus material including adverts from the original NES days.

I\'d have to agree.
A classic game, there\'s not much choice on NGC, but this is well worth adding to your collection.

Classic Shooter
Relive your Nes days this is just as good as the orignal game that came out on the Nes, The graphics have been slighty updated to give it a sort of next gen feel. Its easy to play, nearly all menus are in english so its easy to see what you are doing.
Well worth getting and at a grat price too.
