Animal Kaiser's Game Soundtrack and Extras
This soundtrack contains the relatively short background themes from the Animal Kaiser arcade cabinet, as well as the game's theme song post-Version-13 (Mezase! Animal Kaiser!) in both vocal and karaoke forms, two lengths of the game's commercial music, and a 'bonus' joke track featuring a thankfully-short though no less ear-grating 'vocal' track by the Hippo Brothers.
The music for this game is actually fairly good (I purchased it specifically because I liked the tracks while playing the game and watching video footage), though the tracks on the disk are short and looped, and a good number of the songs themselves are under half a minute due to the short clips in-game that they represent (such as the Victory and Defeat jingles).
The accompanying DVD has a nice selection of attack and miracle animations, as well as the idle animations of selected in-game animals and a good chunk of demonstration animations (the clips that play on the arcade cabinets while the machine is idling out of play). The DVD itself is restricted to Region 2, so not everyone will be able to view it.
The game comes with a booklet of nice images of many of the key animals and named characters through the series, as well as lyrics to Mezase! Animal Kaiser! It also comes with three promotional cards: a powered-down bronze version of the Holy Lion Galeon (a Boss animal and Ultra Rare of Japan's Version 7), as well as the Strong card "Soul of a King" (using the Version 1 card art), and the Miracle card "Volcanic Chain" (using the Version 6 art). While the Strong and Miracle cards work in all machines, Galeon does not yet work on English machines (which are only on Version 5 as of this review, though Version 6 has just been released to the official English website).
Overall a good purchase, but the short tracks and Region-locked DVD keep it from a full 5-star review.
