Had a tough time choosing
I had a tough time choosing between this and Prototype, which is similar in gameplay. I pick this mainly because of the storyline and the choices that this game offered. Those already played Prototype should give this a try.

Everything we love in One Game!

Cool Action Game!!
While waiting for enough budget to buy inFamous 2, I tried out this game since it got lots of good reviews. Totally blew my mind. Superb effect and plenty of action. Sometimes it feels like Prince of Persia + Spiderman (with electric power-ups). Totally fun gameplay.

Open world PS3 Exclusive game

Awesome
Had a great time with this one. Love the sandbox, and had a ball leveling up my character. Presentation was really nice, with the use of motion comics. Graphics were up to par, and the story had enough going for it to keep me interested throughout.

You just have to play Infamous for yourself to see with your own eyes, just how exhilarating the world of Infamous can be. The graphic looks great! even though the animation in cutscenes look stiff. but that's just cutscenes.

Great Game
This is one of the best video games for PS3 so far, great game play, great story great graphics what more can u ask for, there are 2 ways to play it (evil or good) you decide where to take and once you finished in one way you can replayed in the other mode and get all the thropies even in the hard mode is pretty easy but no boring at all there is always something to looking for and places to explore. just go ahead and buy it you will not regret it.

It's not really a title I'd have paid $60 on release, since it has a couple flaws. For one, aiming Cole's powers isn't precise at all, so shooting far away targets is quite a hassle. They, however, use guns, and have no problems.
But eventually, it picks up. And while it doesn't, you can enjoy the amazing comicbook-like cutscenes, and the deep moral conflicts surrounding the main characters choices (which you get to make, by the way). So yes, this Greatest Hits version of inFamous is quite a nice deal.

A Good Game
The game is comic book style with interesting story line. I liked the choice of good/bad karma which makes it more intriguing. The graphics are ok but not top notch. Controls on the character not as fluid as say uncharted 2 but I will still recommend this to add to your PS3 game library if you are into this genre.

A great superhero game.
The game is not without its flaws (mostly because of its age), but is still incredibly fun.
The whole story and feeling is very comic book-ish, with great style, amazing story and a whole lot of fun. The controls are good and intuitive and the game progression feels just right.
It also adds a great level of depth to it in the fact that you can be both a hero and a villain in the game depending on how you act and it not only affects how the citizens react to your presence, but also how your powers develop.

Worth a try
An ok ps3 exclusive. Minus the bugs. Interesting story and I live the Karma system. Makes it feel like you control the story of the game. And that gives it a good replay value. Though the graphics aren't all that great. There are jagged edges but other than that, it is definitely a good buy when it is on offer. =]

I bought this game after reading many of the rave-reviews (including the ones on this site), but I was pretty disappointed by the game. The robotized citizens and cars are annoying for aesthetic and practical reasons. They often get in the way and make me wonder how the citizen AI devolved so horribly on the PS3 platform. Also, opponents have little AI and just shoot whenever you are in proximity. Despite the graphics, I felt like I was playing a SNES game.

Feel Like a Super Hero
I think I never played another game that gave me the sensation of being a super hero like inFamous. The game have its flaws, like "robotized" citizens onthe streets, glitches like cars running without drivers and so on. But its a great game anyway, can't wait for the sequel.

Like other reviewers stated, this sandbox exclusive is a must buy for every PS3 owner who loves an action and fast-paced game.
InFamous use comic books storytelling elements to evolve the plot, which is rather simple, but compelling (a few homages included and well placed).
The core gameplay is simple, and there are various subsystems available to master. The Karma System, a meter that measures your good or evil actions during the course of the game, is interesting because it directly affects the plot and gameplay.
The side quests are fun, and you will spent a lot of time playing them.
There are always plenty of things to do, and that's what makes me come back (and perhaps, make other players and you) to play Infamous again and again.

Moving around the city is easy & exciting. Fast combat with a variety of combat powers. Engrossing story with interesting characters. A great variety of missions, not the same mono missions over & over again. Pace of play is good, not too slow, not too fast.

Very good
Feels a lot like crackdown for xbox 360, except that this game has electric attacks, very cool moves and choices for being bad/good. You can collect shards, and make the city rid of evil by doing specific missions. The storyline is pretty great, definitely worth a purchase.

Far Better Than Expected!
The low price is what attracted me to the game, not to mention the fact I like to pick up exclusives. The game had solid reviews, but I take in little of what I hear from 'professionals'. Yet I must admit, I should have bought it earlier!
The story is interesting enough, your choice of good/evil is literally black and white - thought the fact you gain access to different powers depending on your alignment makes it more interesting. On my first play through I opted to be evil, after all the game is called Infamous. However, the evil option does not always fit well with the story (especially at the start). There is seemingly little reason for Cole to become a d**k and this plot arc feels very forced (again, especially at the start).
Where the game excels is the controls, Cole is a very fast moving character who is the love child of Assassins Creed's Altair/Ezio and Crackdown's agents. The animation is at times at little 'stuttery' but the player is awarded far more control over the action of the character. Developer assistance is well hidden and you can climb on almost anything.

The low price is what attracted me to the game, not to mention the fact I like to pick up exclusives. The game had solid reviews, but I take in little of what I hear from 'professionals'. Yet I must admit, I should have bought it earlier!
The story is interesting enough, your choice of good/evil is literally black and white - thought the fact you gain access to different powers depending on your alignment makes it more interesting. On my first play through I opted to be evil, after all the game is called Infamous. However, the evil option does not always fit well with the story (especially at the start). There is seemingly little reason for Cole to become a d**k and this plot arc feels very forced (again, especially at the start).
Where the game excels is the controls, Cole is a very fast moving character who is the love child of Assassins Creed's Altair/Ezio and Crackdown's agents. The animation is at times at little 'stuttery' but the player is awarded far more control over the action of the character. Developer assistance is well hidden and you can climb on almost anything.

New Standards!
The best sandbox game I ever played. The story was so intensely addictive and the characters so become what you want depending on the choices you make. Even after finishing the game, which is extremely satisfying, you don't want to put down the controller but in fact keep playing or replay from the start and see a different outcome!

A comic book story where you can choose to be heroic or villainous in an open world environment? How can you lose?! Well, with inFAMOUS, you can't. It aims high and succeeds at being awesome for the most part.

The only drawbacks are that sometimes slaying the same enemies over and over again can get a little repetitive, and also it feels like if they made a sequel THAT would be the amazing game, because this one feels like they're one step away from getting it perfect. It's great for what it is though!

When this came out there was the huge comparisons of this and Prototype. Each are similar yet worlds apart. You'll find a well polished, combat oriented open world game here that doesn't disappoint. Story also feels like it could be an origin story for any super hero/villian.

It's a decent game with a few new bells and whistles, but the open-ended world starts to feel confined once the repetition kicks in. While similar to the GTA style of gaming (only more combat-focused), it doesn't boast nearly the same variety or on the same scale. That said, was still fun to play through once, though am not sure would play again only for the sake of following a different karma route.

Not bad, not as good as it thinks it is. Pleasing control system makes scooting around Empire City feel entertaining enough but combat not perfect. Good value at the lower price. Why can't developers make games that allow you to choose moral options less extreme than Gandhi-esque or Hitler-like?!

With an original story complete with the feel of reading a comic book. InFamous is one of the best PS3 exclusives I've ever played.
With dynamic electrical powers in an open world filled with tons of missions relating to the main story and side missions to keep the town at bay from rutheless gangs terrorisng every part of Empire City.
While the graphics may not be the best looking (although the details are fantastic on the buildings) but servicable enough to look good enough for a PS3 game.
The Sound features great voice acting and obscure but rather intriguing music that gives the game a different feel to it than any other game.

The game is a lot of fun, the electrical super powers are well done. The game is interesting and a decent sandbox game. The powers are interesting but, after a while you become so powerful it loses its challenge.
The moral decisions don't really play all that much into the overall game, it just depends on what you want to have as a power at the end of the game.

for the lack of variaty in enemies and no real chalenging bosses and for the lack of good story which prevent identification with the hero/infamous this game is not more then 3 stars at most.the gray monotonus landscape is not appeling to say the least BUT playabilty is nothing less then in the leaguel of gta gow and better then the first uncharted.it is a pure fun game to play in and add the nice evil/hero sort of free will mechanism it worth the 3 or 4 stars. i gave it a 4 stars mostly for the fun factor which even with all the mentioned flaws is nothing less then the best of the year (if u ask me) so far.

Polished origin story
inFAMOUS is in some ways feels like a prelude to any great superhero where he's just coming to grip with his powers. This works well with with the game and a story. The game looks great and seems very polished.
Only real issues is some side quests are repetitive but they are optional and the moral choices are very black and white even though i personally think his friends treat him poorly anyway.

The demo experience pales in comparison to the full retail game. The city is massive and detailed. It truly seems to react to you as your powers grow.

The story is decent; nothing really ground breaking but it will keep you involved and moving along as you move toward the final battle.
My main complaints are that the power system only really rewards one path; mixing and matching don't really work so being good or evil depends on the powers you want more than any real moral choices. Also aquiring powers can be a bit repetative.
Overall, though, it is a fantastic game decent replay value. Well worth the price.

InFamous is an amazing game, seriously consider buying!
I won't lie though, InFamous isn't without its flaws. There have been times where I've fallen through the ground and died. I've been launched off a train without knowing why. I've even walked though cars and other solid objects. However, all of those things happened so rarely that I could easily overlook them, especially because of how well crafted the game is.

If you like super heroes, nice story lines and huge territories to cause mayhem in, then this is your best bet.
The graphics might be only ok at times, but the sense of power you get from this game is priceless.

A lot of fun
A truly fun game - running, climbing, shooting mechanics are very well implemented.
My only complaint is that the environments don't change much as you open new islands.
But if you are looking for a fun open world superhero game - this is it.
*Can't compare it to Prototype as I haven't played it, but it has also been compared to Crackdown on the XBOX 360 - and I can say it is WAY more fun.

truly a masterpeace of gameing
runing around shooting lightnings out of your fingers is alot of fun,exploring the massive city is both challangeing and fun.
story is compeling makeingu want to get to the end of the game but the game is so good u never want it to end.
the difrances between good and dark paths are amazing makeing u want to play the game both ways.
as a finle note: BUY THIS GAME its so good ull never regret it

Infamous is a rock solid action thriller with an enthralling story and believable characters.
the developers have created an excellent immersive world for the players to explore. the story loien is great the gameplay is great and there is a lot of replayability value here. if you are a ps3 user you owe it to ure self to buy this game.

A throughly enjoyable open world game with wonderfully fluid animation, massive potential for being a general asshat to the people around you and an engaging plot. inFAMOUS is a must buy.

A game about a superhero that never became a masked crusader
Cole is Cole, simply a man with electrical powers. Electrical powers that he got from a massive explosion in which he was at the epicentre.
That's what surprised me about the game, the story is told well and Cole always feel like a man that's not quite the superhero (yet). That he's struggling with himself and the position that the powers puts him in.
The story; told through comic cutscenes, voice overs for phone communication and recordings, tv shows placing the city in America with the politicians and media lying about what is happening as Cole and the rest of the people in the city is trying to survive. That's part of the reason I like the story I guess, the cynisism, but also that you are trying to be a good guy (well if you choose, as you can play the bad guy as well, somehow having that choice there helps).
But before the story I noticed the controls and how easy it is to move around up the walls and from roof to roof; how flexible Cole is as he can use his lightning powers from any position. How the button layout just feels right as I took on the enemies.
The enemies are hoods and drug dealers/addicts who were changed by the blast, some are similar to Cole in that they've got some powers of their own. The wide range of enemies and the ease in which you can identify who is who is another great strength of the game as you learn strategies to deal with the different enemies, using the strengths of Cole against them as he can scale buildings and attack them from any location.
Some of your strategies also evolve as you gain more powers as you progress through the game. Playing through the story missions you will gain more powers and playing the side missions you save parts of the city, also saving you from the annoyance of the simpler enemies who shoot at you from rooftops.
Additionally there are random events throughout the city with the hoods robbing NPCs or hoods having street fights against other gangs, some of the more impressive fights in the game are the gang fights.
The problems with the game are mostly related to the presentation, while the comic cutscenes are really well done and the voice overs are generally pretty good (Cole's friend Zeke sounds flustered as he is running through the city and talking to Cole, nice touch) the ingame cutscenes are quite bad, most of the characters (apart from Cole) not really having the quality modelling and animation that they can be looked at with a near camera as is used for ingame cutscenes. Then there are also the Karma moments where you choose to be good or bad, they are clearly spelling out exactly what you need to do, I would have preferred them only showing that there is a moment with an icon and then leaving it up to the player as the options that you have are mostly all game actions that you can perform anyway (attack, zap, heal, etc). There are also some bugs with the climbing and collisions, where you can end up at locations where you cannot save yourself.
Overall though the game is polished and a lot of fun which makes any minor presentation problems go away.
Missions are fun and relatively diverse, especially compared to other open world games. The powers you have make any fight fun, there are no real annoying difficulty spikes and where there are potential for annoyance the developers have put in checkpoints to alleviate the annoyance (GTA-devs: Look at this game for an example of how to do missions). Some of my favourite missions were the stealth follow missions and the speed challenges, missions where you have to rely on your ability to survey the city landscape to choose the right path to follow. Not to mention some of the really good story missions that were telling the story in a nice way as you had to chase after your objective.

A Must-Have PS3 Game
Very fun, very addicting. The story, the graphics, the gameplay are very well done. Although the side quests can get very repetitive. Still, the karma system is very innovative. So stop reading and buy this game!!

Infamous is an incredible game. Highly polished and very addictive pacing, the game will suck you in the first 5 minutes, which every memorable game should do. The power of the Cell truly shines here with numerous particle effects littering the screen: no screen tearing or slow down. Combat is wonderful as is exploring the city and gaining new superpowers. Being able to play as good or evil is very innventive.
A must have game for any PS3 owner!!!

One of the best superhero games
Great superhero game!
Really good plot with unexpected ending, fun and satisfying gameplay with plenty of moves and abilities.
Completed this games 2 times, earned platinum and can't wait for sequel.

Great and awesome!

It seems to be much better than prototype and it beats prototype just the graphic alone. Shooting the objects with super electric power to cause them exploded is really amazing experience. No game ever gives you such a superhero type of feeling and experience. Thanks Play-asia!

Great Game
it's does get a little repetitive after a while, but thats the common problem of all sand box games, this game might well be one of the least repetitives of its genre. the NPC in town really react to you depending on your reputation, story is very intriguing, and the final boss battle is arguably the best so far this gen. good for at least 2 playthroughs ( good and evil)

Great superhero sandbox game
Really great game, easily one of my best gaming experiences of this year. The controls are so good, it feels really good to control your character and climb inumerous buildings. Your character powers are so fun to use, and as the story progresses they become much more powerful, making you a badass superhero.

Well worth playing
Def one of the better PS3 exclusive games out there. Sucker Punch continues to prove that they are a great team. Running around the city blasting enemies with lightening is a lot of fun, and the story and boss battles make for a great time. While there are a few issues in the game such as some minor glitches the game is well worth your time. If you have a PS3 you should get it right away and hope for a new Sly Cooper soon.

Infamous has you playing as Cole, a courier who unwillingly gets super powers thrust on to him as a result of a devasting explosion of a mysterious device known as the Ray Sphere. His city is in turmoil and under strict military quarantine, his girlfriend blames him for the death of her sister and he has no idea why and how any of these things happened to him.
Throughout the course of Infamous Cole finds the answers to all these questions and earns a few nifty powers to boot. He can also decide whether or not to use his newfound powers for good or for evil. In addition to cosmetic changes (similarly seen in Fable), the city changes according to Cole's alignment and a second play through is rewarded with a different ending and extra trophies.
The game is set out as an open world action title (think Assassin's Creed or Prototype) and like most of the games in this genre it suffers from quite a bit of repetition. However the controls are excellent, Cole's powers a lot of fun to use, and the storyline competent and as a result more than makes up for this shortcoming. Definitely worth a purchase.

I just finished the game twice, hero and infamous sides. Yes the game is repetitive and yes most of the time you get attacked and you don't know where it came from. However, what I enjoyed the most about the game is the power that keeps growing with each new mission and the upgrades. I enjoy blasting enemies off the roof. I just wish I could fry them literally like in the game Syphon Filter (fry enemies until they turned charcoal by using your taser). Now that would be awesome. Maybe that would be possible in the sequel?
I enjoyed the game. I plan to play it again just to see the outcomes of the power. It does remind me of Star Wars - you can be a Jedi Knight or a Sith Lord

this is pretty bad
this game is all hype. the game is really boring. same missions again and again. the game play looks nice but sometimes doesnt work as it should. most of the time you are getting attacked with no idea where its coming from...the story is..uh nice..
