Borderline Strike
The key phrase for this 2009 edition of the Powerful Major series is: Good, but buggy/questionable AI.

Good in the sense that finally we have multiple success scenarios with various types of play (from full games to sim only) along with MLB Life, and Season mode. The 3 gems of the PowerPro franchise are here... What is missing however is critical!

AI is a critical missing element here. Difficulty wise I would put the batting difficulty at about PowerPro 15 on Normal. This hardly changes with any increase in difficulty in the game due to the fact that as a hitter you can always expect one pitch to come down the middle... On any difficulty! Pitching wise the game tends to be much better balanced, however some may find that higher difficulty still fails to give the proper resistance one expects in a normal Powerpro game.
Some amusing fielding AI aside, the poor hitting side of the game ends up shutting away what should be the more funner part of the simulation.

When AI issues cause a game simulating RL to instead not represent the product at all... It drags down the whole experience of the game.

The game receives stars for the representation of environment... but when one tries to participate the reality of a flawed game comes to ruin what could have been a great production.
