Get the new DX version ...
I bought this game nearly a year ago now, and although I loved it during that time, I do agree with the other reviews negative commentary.

The characters in the game are really creepy and the in-game menu music is so annoying! The visuals are not very nice either, almost Nintendo64 looking. Even despite those flaws, I still had a really good time with this game and my friends also loved it! You'll definitely need to buy the additional online access tickets for all the great songs they have in their online database.

If you're thinking about this game, I would recommend buying the new DX version that was just released! Everything has improved and it's a much nicer experience now with access to the huge 50,000 songs database still. Take a look at it in the related items below on this page!

Wanna Karaoke without leaving home?
Have you ever gone to a Japanese, themed or in Japan, Karaoke club/bar/studio, and you like going to Karaoke at these places. Then you'll love this game. If you only love Karaoke in a Singstar type of format, then you will be disappointed. No fancy videos or meters to tell you how well you're doing. No camera feeds of you and your friends making an ass out of themselves. But, what you do get is the most genuine and expansive Karaoke experience you'll ever get outside of a Karaoke bar. The library is huge and they do have english and japanese songs and they aren't just the top of the chart type songs either.

So, get it if you love to sing and know either English or Japanese songs, oh and well, you'll probably want to at least be able to sound out the english titles in Japanese, sorry, the only downside to those who don't know Japanese...yeah, they don't provide English letters in their search system. But anyways, for me it was absolute love. Man, this review just fell apart in the end.

Lots of songs but...
When I first heard about the massive 30,000 songs available when you go online I thought I had to get this game. I mean, its a karaoke game, what could go wrong? This is where I let my guard down. Annoying characters, horrible mini games, bad quality songs, off time dancing and considering its a music game, awful menu music. Being karaoke, its quite obviously a multiplayer game, so if you're playing by yourself you'll feel really stupid. This game is also a bit pricy, with having to pay to go online. In the end, it's probably better to be spending your money somewhere else.
