Monster Hunter G expanded the original Monster Hunter quite a bit with subspecies, additional village features among many others like Dual Swords (which were technically first included in the overseas version of the MonHun 1).

While this never got released outside Japan, the overseas version, Monster Hunter Freedom for PSP was made and it essentially this game save for the new monster Yian Garuga.

There isn't much of a reason to own this game other than for collectible purposes: You can grab a copy of Monster Hunter Freedom for pretty cheap and you can acccess all the content whenever unlike in this game which had servers built for online -which have obviously been shut down-. That pretty much means this game is inferior in every way save for bigger screen, collectible value and the comfortness of DualShock2 controller.

But that could be said for the Wii version as well. That game's got the button layout of this series' portable incarnations (plus it looks better) which is what most of people have been acquainted with so it is actually a bit better.

If you want this game, get the Wii version because despite the lack of available online it looks -and probably plays- better.
