The battle system is based off a relic called "Mila's Turnwheel". This relic allows you to control time. During a battle, you can turn back time by one turn, and on the full map, you can look into the past. The good thing about this system is that you can take back a turn if something unfavorable happens. For example, if an ally is killed, you can rewind time and think about what you can do to prevent that from happening a second time.

Training in this game is gained as you fight enemies and heal your allies. You slowly build up experience points and you'll level up, making your abilities and skills stronger. Once you reach a certain level, you can visit Mila's Statue and change your class to a more advanced one that has greater abilities. You can also explain dungeons, shrines, and hideouts in various places. Once you've visited a dungeon, you can visit it again and fight the enemies as much as you want within it.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will be released on the 3DS in Japan on April 20th, while NA and EU users can expect it on May 19. (source)
