Item Description
The New Nintendo 3DS features a better CPU than previous models allowing for faster eShop browsing and downloading. It comes with a built-in NFC on the bottom touchscreen for the amiibo NFC models, while sliding custom covers come with the device, allowing owners to customize the hardware.
The device is based on a custom Pica200 graphics processor from a Japanese start-up Digital Media Professionals (DMP). It has two screens; the top screen is a 3.88 in 5:3 3D screen with a resolution of 800x240 pixels (400x240 pixels per eye, WQVGA) that is able to produce a stereoscopic three-dimensional effect without 3D glasses, while the bottom screen is a 3.33 in 4:3 non-3D touch panel with a resolution of 320x240 pixels (QVGA). The 3DS weighs approximately 8 oz. and, when closed, is 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long, and 0.8 inches tall. The system features several additions to the design of the original DS, including a slider on the side of the device that adjusts the intensity of the 3D effect, a round nub analog input called the "Slide Pad", an accelerometer, and a gyroscope. In addition, there is an infra-red communicator port situated on the top of the unit. The 3DS has two cameras on the outside of the device, capable of taking 3D photos and capturing 3D video, as well as a camera positioned above the top screen that faces the player; both cameras have a resolution of 640x480 pixels (0.3 Megapixel). The system also has 3D movie playback capability. Compatible with both Nintendo DS and DSi games, and a new generation of 3DS games.
Please note: Nintendo 3DS AC Adapter is NOT included. AC Adapters from Nintendo 3DS/ 3DS XL/ DSi/ DSi XL are compatible with the New Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL consoles.

Japanese New 3DS is Awesome
The New 3DS is an amazing portable System. Since there are many great exclusive 3DS Games that are only available in Japan i decided to buy a japanese 3DS and it is worth the Money.
I decided to buy the small New 3DS Model, because i like the Cover Plates you can use to make your System stand out. If you already owned a European or US 3DS you're not gonna have much trouble navigating the japanese Menues.
The japanese Nintendo eShop is also great and offers tons of fun Games which are only available in Japan. Since you can buy Nintendo Network Cards from Play-Asia it's really easy to buy something from the eShop without waiting.

Love it to death
I decided to buy a Japanese New 3DS so I could play Monster Hunter Cross when it comes out. I have an American New 3DS XL and the smaller screens don't really feel that much smaller, I don't ever feel like I should have gotten the XL version. Customizable face plates are awesome and the Japanese e-shop is AMAZING. Foreign credit cards work btw. But only MasterCard and visa. If you've been on the fence about getting one, JUST DO IT. the only thing I regret is not getting one sooner... Also, it's good practice for your Japanese if you're interested in learning.

I admit, a great upgrade from the original model
Nintendo made a lot of smart choices with this model. I rarely do upgrades. I only buy the newest models if I there is good to do so. I decided to purchase the New Nintendo 3DS model because of the new line of Nintendo 3DS games that will only be playable on this system over the next few years. Also, at some point, I would have also needed a second system for games that like Pokémon that require both versions to get the most out of the game. Overall, I have grown accustomed to it and I have very happy with the purchase. The option to customize the hardware as well as the operating system software was also a smart choice. I have noticed a big difference in the processing speed of the New 3DS model versus the original 3DS model. The games that require more like Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Monster Hunter 4 also run better and do not require system reboots. The colored buttons are a nice touch along with the C-stick. I think the arrangement of the hardware components, like the power button, and charging outlet, and so on, are better too.
