A Wholly Enjoyable Experiance all-round.
When coming into watching \'Once A Theif\' i didnt think it was an old movie (silly me) i thought it was supposed to be pretty new. Anyway all that aside I\'m glad it is an older film because it generally feels like a trip down to \"Old School China Town\" (as i like to call it ^^).

\'Once A Theif\' is a story about three children who were raised to be pick pockets and later become big time Art theives. The movie opens with the three executing their little theiving techniques in preperation for stealing an expensive painting from a moving delivery truck. The heist goes according to plan and the three promise to quit stealing for good. However when they are given an offer to steal a painting from a well guarded fortress and go down in history to be the only ones to ever come out alive, they decline however the younger Jim cannot pass it up so he secretly goes out to steal the painting. When the eldest, Cupcake (played by Chow Yun Fat), finds out about this he goes to lend his buddy a hand because they always work as a team. The heist feels like something out of \"Beverly Hills Cop\" (a movie I\'m not so fond of) but less cheesy and kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the Old School feel and it had that extra sweet chinese flavoured added (ala \"Old School China Town\").
Anyway getting back on track, the heist is successful but however they are double crossed by the client and one is left in a wheel chair.
It\'s time for revenge and to do it they will steal back the painting that caused all the trouble.

This was a trully enjoyable movie and i just loved it, the only reason i dont give it a perfect score is because of the unecessary romance triangle between Cupcake, Jim and their femal counter part Red Bean. It just felt out of place and I would\'ve enjoyed the film much better with out it, I mean why cant they just be great friends and leave it at that?
This movie was exciting and funny, Chow Yun Fat actually appealed in his role (for once, no offense Chowie but i just aint a fan), he was funny and likable all-round.

This Flick is deffinantly for someone who enjoys the \"Old School China Town\" action flicks or even the old \"Beverly Hills Cop\" movies with Eddie Murphey. Even if you arent a fan of crime-comedy movies with the same old story lines (like me) you shoud find this enjoyable, maybe just for its comedic elements.

Give this flick some consideration when you next stock your shopping carts! ^^
