useful for begginers
I found this quite useful for starting off japanese but once you want to continue learning the language it is recommendable to find other sources.
It is still recommendable as one of the best japanese learning games on the ds.

Rough Interface
The interface is quite rough, clunky and sometimes not intuitive. The DS screen resolution is very low so they should of increased the text size as sometimes the kana is very small and it makes it very difficult to tell the difference between similar ones e.g. か (ka) and が (ga). Even with all its shortcomings it is still reasonably useful when used in conjunction with a real course.

My Japanese coach
I'm happy about the game, and I've used it a lot since I received it in the mail. I will note however, that it does not give you enough training in using grammar and piecing sentences together. It tells you the main rules, but the games provided focuses more on having you remember the words. Thus, advancing to the next lesson sometimes leaves you still not having mastered the last one. I find it strange that "My Japanese coach" haven't made better use of the games actually provided for sentence-building. (there are several of them in the game, they just don't "update" for every lesson)
On the other hand, My Japanese coach is a great addition to your learning-experience, if you are already using beginner books like "genki" on the side. My Japanese Coach is great for expanding your vocabulary and gives you a bit of extra insight to the meanings of beginner Kanji. It's also quite good for drilling in your Hiragana and katakana even better!
Needless to say, I would buy it again, knowing what I do now! Good luck with your Japanese-training!

easy and useful
a good addition to other study forms, and a good tool for traveling because of the pretty good dictionary, but not really good enough to be the only source for learning japanese. a great help, and an easy way to learn basics!
