It is really fun and I learn a bit Japanese at the same time!

Great practice material
I really like games in this software which can help you to remember how to read and write. It helps me a lot in master the Kana.
This software also focus on the grammar. It lists the grammar points in the lessons step by step. I find it quite helpful for the Japanese beginner like me.

Good for beginners
...but rather tedious if you have prior knowledge. I had been studying the language for nearly 3 years when I picked up this game to practice before studying abroad. Unfortunately, while I aced the "placement test" at the beginning it still forced me to spend quite a bit of time "learning" the words that I'd known since my first semesterof study. It also continues using romaji for what I considered to be a rather ridiculous amount of time (given that it extends far past the end of the kana lessons) and doesn't begin teaching kanji until about 40 lessons in. Admittedly several of the minigames (fill in the blank and scrolls specifically) are very useful for remembering the readings of kanji and the words learned in the lesson, but it takes quite a while to unlock them, and I found a lot of the early games quite useless.

A word of warning: several of the hiragana are written in unusual ways in the game, specifically sa, and ki--expect to be marked down by the program if you do not attach the bottom stroke as in printed characters vs. handwritten ones.

Despite this it gives very clear explanations and has a handy feature where you can record yourself saying the vocabulary words then compare it to a native speaker's pronunciation. It would be a very useful program if not for the lack of means to bypass unnecessary lessons.

Good but doesn't replace the books.
Having learnt Japanese but havn't found the time to practice it has begun making me forget alot about this Language. Thankfully theres "My Japanese Coach," this game teaches you the basics from your first Hiragana scripts all the way to the more advanced Kanjis and grammar patterns. It even ranks you on a pre-school to highschool scale!
The game starts off with 50 multiple choice questions designed to test how good you are with Japanese, those with prior knowledge will go on to skip learning things like Hiragana, like-wise thoses without will begin with Hiragana scripts. However those who are more advanced with the language like myself will find this game a chore in the start, you are forced to start with very basic words and phrases like the months, you also have to repeat these things several times till you fill a Level bar in order to proceed with newer lessons.
Overall this is a nice package for those thinking about learning Japanese but don't have the time to go to school. Its great for the beginners as with the more advance learners (but you might find it slow), it does get intense as you level up to the high schooler material, however in my experience still doesn't beat the good ol' fashion text book.
