Incredible Game

It's FFT all over again + a few extras. New Video Cutscenes rendered in Cell-Shading + Voice-Over (US-Edition) and Multiplayer Missions. The translation was also improved and corrected. The only reason why this game didn't get a perfect rating is the horrible lag, which occurs at every single skill-use and the Audio-Quality ... [read more...]

Great game
It keeps pretty much the basic stuff the made the first version so enjoyable and adds a few tweaks like more characters in your party. Sound a bit worse though

Not bad
A few mistakes, like no single player quests or the poor renaming, but a fun game overall.

Slow at first, but rewarding at the end
Pros: Better story I ever seen in a FF game. Great strategy gameplay. Intriguing and awesome ending.

Cons: It's very hard to get used to the game if strategy games are not your thing. Can be so frustrating that you may be inclined to give up, so you have to insist on it.

I never played the original on PS1, so I can't review the aspects of this port. That said, I was reluctant about this game until a friend insisted that I should play. It was very painful for me to adapt at the "tactics" aspect of the game, but once I did it, I really enjoyed and ended considering one of the best FFs out there. The story are, with no doubt, the best on a Final Fantasy. It's very mature and adult. I absolutely loved the animations sequences and the ending of the game.

PERFECT Strategy RPG Game
As a fan of Strategy RPGs, I never forgot this masterpiece. Now on PSP version, we're given many additions, like new playable characters, events, subquests, as well as the many 'renamed' characters, places, etc. which I think was cool.

A MUST HAVE game for Strategy RPG fans! This is the FFT's ultimate version!!!

Thank you, Play-Asia! :)

One of the best games... EVER!!
There have been enough words of high praise - all well deserved - heaped on this game that there is really not much I can add but to say this is a great port of one of the Playstations best games - probably even it's best...
If you own a PSP and don't have this game then rectify...immediately!

Lazy port
Disappointing port with some additions to the original. It's a pain to play through a game on the wrong resolution. Gameplay wise it's still acceptable after all these years, but if you are fussy on graphics then this is one to avoid.

Great game, but not for everyone
Yeah, yeah, yeah, personally, i agree with the other review.

Good graphic, great story, complex gameplay, deep customization, etc. Oh, yea, I wanna add one more: The enemies ARE brutal. Good thing for strategy-hardcore-gamer. Bad thing for casual-strategy-gamer.

Prepare your troops, mix n match their abilities, and happy grinding :)

remake of one of the best FF games
haven't got the chance to play the original PS1 title, getting this PSP release is way better (and way cheaper, not to mention nearly impossible to get brand new) offer than looking for the original

yes i know you can buy the original cheaper on PSN, but seriously, why bother playing the old one when you can get better

One of my most favorite games
The story of final fantasy tactics is one of the best storylines ever made. Political intrigue, and the desire of the main character to do what is right really hooked me on this game.

The game is a port of the PS1 version with 2 new classes (that really aren't game changing) and some new characters. The things worth buying this for are the hand drawn cinematics which appear at key points of the story :)

There are times though that the psp has problems displaying the graphics (during spells) and will slowdown during these times. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this, being that this is one of my favorite games :)

The FF with the best story so far
I played the original FFT around 10 years back and I was in love with the plot. I can even go as far to say that I like the story of FFT more than any other FF games.

The new cutscenes in FMV have a unique art taste and they are beautiful. If you are looking for a turn based strategy game set in the Middle ages and having a good story, this game occupies the top item on my recommendation list.

Slightly Disappointing
As a remake of Final Fantasy tactics for a current generation machine, Square Enix do a passable job at what they set out to achieve. The lag which wasn't present on the original playstation edition is a let down as is the high amount of level grinding required in the early game. The bonus characters are a nice addition but somewhat superfluous.

As a tactics game on the PSP, it won't let you down but I much prefer Disgaea.

The War of the Lions
overall its an enjoyable experience, especially when you win, which happens a lot actually, since the character stats are a bit unbalanced

at the beginning of the game, i found that there was a lot of emphasis placed on level grinding, however, when past that first boss, it was much more entertaining

the lag was there also, when characters like summoners did their magic attacks there was a mistiming between the skill and the skills sound... it doesnt completely wreck the game though, but its there...

Good but...
The whole zodiac system is too confusing, and makes fighting hard sometimes. Also the mistranslation of the Orion Knight is still there, know commonly known and the Onion Knight... for the best rank its a bit lame, someone ought to change it... otherwise a great game!

The only reason why this game didn't get a perfect rating is the horrible lag, which occurs at every single skill-use and the Audio-Quality reduction. Square-Enix should have done better considering that the PSP is more capable than the PSX in which FFT was released at first.

Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou
Square-Enix, developes of the Final Fantasy series, have been on a roll, remaking their older titles for the past two years. Its latest addition is Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War, a remake for the PlayStation Portable. Players of the original will find that The Lion War comes full of extras. Two new Job classes - The Dark Knight and the Onion Knight - are available, as are two additional unique characters. Balthier from Final Fantasy XII and Russo from the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 are characters who can join your party. There is also an ad hoc wireless mode. You play as Ramza Beoluve, a former noble who has grown disillusioned with the war between the countries of Goltana and Larg. While fighting as a mercenary, however, he uncovers a far more sinister plot surrounding the 12 Zodiac stones and an attempt to take over the world of Ivalice and sets off the uncover the truth and stop disaster.

Strategy players will feel right at home in the turn-based battle system. Battles use the Charge system, with both enemies and allies taking their turns according to a Charger gauge. When it reaches 100, the unit can move, attack and so forth. This opens upthe secondary charge system, in which players can choose to attack immedately, or charge more powerful spells that will be used after a short pause. If enemies or allies move out of the field of effect before that occurs, the spell still goes off, but its effects could be wasted or even hurt your own units. Battles are heavily varied, with 22 Jobs to obtain and master. Characters gain two types of levels, Job and Character levels. The only issue with the game is its incessant lag.

Moving the camera or using spells and skills result in a noticeable freeze between when the action is carried out and its subsequent effect. The longer the animation lasts, the bigger the time lapse between its animation and sound. While a certain amount of loading is to be expected in many PSP titles, the amount of lag here borders on the absurd.

Too Slow
This game is great, great story great game mechanics. But I found the slow down for spells to be unbearable at times. It's not enough to ruin the game, but enough to get you aggrivated SEVERAL times.

Great game!
This is a great port from the PS1 version of the game, about the only flaw getting into it so far is using the Magic and some of the abilities it tends to slow down on the PSP a slight bit, but not enough to make you mad, still a must get for anyone that loved the old FFT game!
