Essential I swear I can see detail in games that I couldn't previously spot via composite (for example, the segments on the energy bar in F-ZERO GX).
Sadly, not all third-party games fully support it in widescreen. You will need to utilise any zoom features of your TV to negate any letterboxing. This is not a fault of the product however, so it gets a 5.

Worth Every Penny!!!!!!!!!!! With my new HDTV and the crappy composite cables that come bundled with the GC the picture was extremely dark and blurry. The official component cable from nintendo cures these problems. The picture is now crystal clear and much more detailed than with the composite cables. It also allows you to play about 95% of GC games in progressive scan. These cables go for around $70 - $100 on ebay (plus shipping) so this is definetly the cheapest price around.

Excellent The cable eliminates all colour bleeding and dot crawling, which alone makes the games look fantastic, but it also gets rid of any clarity issues that you would see through the standard composite cable.
Very much reccomended.
Also noteworthy is that for the Australian (or PAL users) of the cable, is that the PAL cube actually does support progressive scan, it's just that no PAL games support it - but it's good to know that via the Freeloader/AR booting NTSC-J/NTSC-US games, you can enjoy them via progressive scan through your home GameCube!

Great definition! This cable is a great buy! Even though the games look a little bit jaggier, the rest of the good aspects outweigh this bad aspect in particular. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to test the progressive scan feature because my TV doesn't support it.
