description
Fighting game fans cheer for your life! As the legendary arcade hit Hokuto no Ken (aka. Fist of the North Star) is coming to your PlayStation2. Made by the same team as Guilty Gear, this game sports some of the fastest paced action seen on a 2D fighter to date. Play as Kenshiro, Shin, Raoh, Yuda and many other characters from the Hokuto no Ken anime and manga series, and unleash their Fatal KO techniques!
Every player has a seven stars gauge that, through various attacks, can be lowered and once empty, a final "death star" will light up and the enemy player can perform a special attack that finishes of the opponent similar to the Instant Kill-moves from Guilty Gear. Unlike in Guilty Gear, where you could boost any number of times, Hokuto no Ken has a gauge that limits the number of boosts a player can perform, however, the boost is much more powerful than the one in Guilty Gear.
This game is based on the first half of the original manga (vol. 1-16) and uses the characters as they were depicted in the 1980's anime series. The voices of the playable characters are all performed by the original seiyu from the anime, with the exception of Kenshiro and Rei, who are both played by new actors.

A fine 2d fighter! Honestly since getting this ( and ordered 4 other games with it ) I have not been able to put this title down, it is just really fun, a nice change from all the snk and capcom fighting games.
It feels really deep to me, I like all the moves and I really can't complain about the characters designs, I enjoy the anime also and think any fan of the series should pick this up asap, you really will not regret doing so.
I just hope they make a second game with more characters.
Hokuto No Ken Fast and furious craziness with fluid gameplay. Historic and genuine finishing movements when the death star shines. A modern mix of rock and neo-classical for the soundtrack, which features the original Ai Wo Torimodose from the television series. The only problem is the diminutive ten count character roster. Anyway, Shin for the win!
Great idea. This game is great. Though it has a LOT of combos that can really turn the match in a matter of seconds, you can still play it (though some people may not find this to be tourney worthy). There are only 10 characters, but getting past that, the game play is very deep and has a LOT of options when you fight. It may be intimidating at first with the speed, but that is why you have the boost button, or you just learn how to Instant Air Dash. Combos are easy and loose if you look them up and get the timing right. It's a great fighter with people around to play, but you may find it lacking after a while by yourself. Otherwise, it is a MUST BUY!
FOTNS I predicted that a FOTNS title approaching this quality would appear years ago, only I thought maybe Capcom would be at the helm. Thats a moot point though, as Arc System Works has kept at the forfront of 2D fighting action for quite a while now with its superb Guilty Gear franchise. If you are a Hokuto No Ken fan, or a fan of combat games YOU NEED THIS TITLE! There is an incredible amount of attention to detail, both in the graphics and sound departments, and also in relation to references from the anime and comics. Gameplay is quite similar to GG, but considering how good that particular game is that wont worry anyone. Presentation is also predictably excellent and to top it all off the included DVD is also at the same time hilarious AND informative. Truly killer stuff guys.
Good game Very good game. Great gameplay only thing lacking is a better story mode i feel it would suit an anime game. The other downside is that it doesn't have alot of characters but it still includes all the popular ones. Other than that the game is amazing you will like it alot if you are in to fighting games.
I wish more people played fighting games these days.
Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken! As a big fan of the anime and manga I had to pick this one up. The gameplay is fast and the graphics are excellent, the only thing I didn't like was the lack of characters, but its still worth buying especially if you're a fan of the series. I would like to thank Play-Asia for their quick delivery.
Awesome very good and the best fotns game I've played I have great fun playing it and you wa shock intro is awesome. We need the other fighters in the anime series in this game so I'm hoping for a sequel to this game I will love to fight the elementals fighters and the 3 of raoh evil brothers general warriors that were in the anime series that will be awesome. So let's hope for the Sequel.

It's been some time for a 2D fighting game !! You will love the game if you are a fan of:
1) Old school 2D fighting games.
2) Guilty Gear series, since it's from the same team with the same style.
3) Hokuto No Ken :)
Unlike some below average anime based fighting games, this one contributes a lot to the series and the fans. Probably the only draw back for me about the game is dropping Akira Kamiya from the role of Kenshiro (again) when the rest of the original seiyuu repirsed their roles. I can understand replacing the late Kaneto Shiozawa with Chiba Isshin, but changing Kenshiro !!
Although i have to say that Kunihro Kawamoto (the seiyuu for Kenshiro in the game) is the best that voiced Kenshiro after the great Akira Kamiya. With all the respect to the others who voiced the character.
YOU WA SHOCK! If you're a fan of 2D fighters, you need to buy this game NOW. A 2D Fist Of The North Star fighting game, from the developers of the Guilty Gear series. That alone should already make your mouth water.
Speaking of Guilty Gear, the gameplay style will remind you a lot of it. Fast paced, lots of dashes and boosts, quick combos and air launches. The only difference here is that there are no weapons (with the exception of Mamiya) and some of the special moves are Street Fighter inspired (projectiles, uppercuts, etc.).
As with most Japanese fighting games, the menus and options consist of mostly English text, so you'll be able to get right into action immediately. All the story and bonus stuff is in Japanese, however, but I'm sure there will be a translated FAQ available soon.
I ordered this from Play Asia with overnight shipping, and I cannot believe how fast I got this game. It went from Hong Kong to Philadelphia in roughly 24 hours. As always, it's a pleasure ordering from Play Asia. A highly recommended game from a highly recommended company . Buy now!
