Great Naruto ultimate Ninja 2 is one of the best games I played... my friend got me hooked on the show and the series of video games... I never thought Naruto would be good so I never watched it. But one day I played it woth my friend and noticed it s one of the best games ever!!!!!!!!! So I say fan or no fan this game gets a 10!
Japan Versus America The game got cut from the JPN version. There's no Movie stuff and you don't get any free cards or stuff like you sometimes get in Naruto wares. There are TONS of characters compared to other Naruto games such as Uzumaki Chronicles, Clash of Ninja, and Ultimate Ninja. Although I liked the Jutsu previews such as Chakra Blade(Nara Shikamaru), which we've seen Asuma use, but not Shika yet. Also there was Blazing Rasengan(Uzumaki Naruto), which reminded me of Odama Rasengan(Uzumaki Naruto). Don't complain about it though. My friend has the JPN version and he can't use secret techniques because the game will freeze. This was only with his copy, he got a new one and it worked. Overall Japan beats America. I still give the US version a 5.
Fans will love it, but not much for non-fans Good game, but just an upgrade than an overhaul
Gameplay/Controls:
The game play takes place on a 2-d Plane. Think old school side-scroller style fighting game meets manga. The gameplay also takes place between 2 planes, which allows for some versatility and ambushing. In essence, all characters have the same move-set. Up Up X and Down Down X will always activate a Jutsu, and back x will always thrown an opponent. Will everyone has the same commands, the moves and ways they are implemented are unique to the characters, taking moves mentioned and hinted at from the manga and anime. The Controls are tight and responsive.
There is a light RPG element in this game You play as Naruto and others through a story mode “Ultimate Road”, which lightly bases itself on the actual story(a few changes, but the general Idea remain) which can spoil people only watching the dub. The story then goes into original material. The acual mode itself involves talking to people and learning their techniques and unlocking certain characters. There are mini games to earn Ryo(money) to buy new things, such as music and scrolls, mostly fan stuff Audio:
The audio in this game is much better than the last Ultimate Ninja, in quality alone. The last games audio seemed quiet and drowned out by other sounds. In this game you can hear things more crisply
The music is alright. The music is very Japanese and similar to the first. The music is catching, but not very memorable. It doesn’t really base itself on the music used in the anime.
The voice acting in this game is improved upon in the first. With a few exceptions(Gaara grunting in pain) the voice work is a large step up form any localized Naruto game to date, save Uzumaki Chronicles.
Interestingly, a few characters are not voiced by their anime counterparts. To name a few, Tsunade and Genma are not voiced by the same people.
There is not a Japanese option, but that is likely because of localization to the script. Likely, is a Japanese option was put in place, it would be likely that the text would not match what they were saying, thus defeating the purpose of dual language option
Graphics/Art Style:
The Graphics and art seem more influenced by the original Naruto Manga than the Naruto Anime. Most shading has a manga style shading and effect. All characters look exactly like their manga counterparts, as well as most of their techniques (some use the anime versions). Since the game is more manga based, the graphics are less colorful and grittier. However, this game came out years ago in Japan, so the game shows its age a little.
The characters seem to move stiffly, though everyone has unique ways of moving. When using Secret Techniques, you are able to see a close up of the shadows of the characters, and can see polygons and shapes rather than the actual shape of the person giving the shadow. In the RPG mode though, the shadows look much better
The environments are very interactive and everything seems to have some life to it. The environments have detail, but look a little dated.
Special Techniques, however, are done very well, with over the top action sequences and sometimes really good effects.
Censorship/changes:
This is more for the fans of the Japanese version wondering what was changed. This game had some censorship in it, as well as some changes
-Doto Kuzunoha (first movie villain) was removed from the game, as well as the stages (which were actually pretty cool.)
-Asuma’s cigarette is edited out in his character model and all pictures. Also, in Shikamaru’s 3rd Secret Technique, He does not put his cigarette out in the enemies’ blood, since he doesn’t have it(the scene cuts away before he would go through the animation to do it)
-Itachi’s second Secret Technique is edited to remove the “cross” and made it look like the character is strapped to a board
There is other stuff, but it is unimportant
Conclusion:
If you are a fan of the dub, you will love this game. If you watch the Japanese version or have imported NH3 or Accel, there is not much here unless you want something to hold you over till NamcoBandai Localizes Releases ltimate Ninja 3(likely in early 2008). If you are not a Naruto fan, there is not much here to change your mind.
... Its good and all but if you are on this website you prolly allready have eather a moded PS2 or a japanese PS2... and if you do just buy the japanese one becouse they cut the bad guy from the 1st movie and also the 2 stages that took place in the movie... I would give the USA version a 4/5 and the JPN version a 5/5
Awesome! This game is very good and is a must have for all naruto fans. There is one thing though. For some reason, when i start my game up, the intro movie with the "fighting dreamers" song does not show up. Does anyone know why? Please help me. Other than that, this game is GREAT!
awesome anime fighting game ever! This gets 5 stars! This is the best anime fighting game on import ps2 I've played! I've just gotten this yesterday and I've gotta say, Narutimate Hero 2 ROCKS! With dozens of specials for the characters and customizable jutsus that just any character can equip (Itachi with Dynamic Entry!!! Stylish!)! If you are a Naruto fan, and you're waiting to get Narutimate Hero 3, but don't have alot of money to spend, get Narutimate Hero 2 first, it's at a low price, and it's pretty good! Thanks play-asia!
Naruto: Narutimate Hero 2 Naruto: Narutimate Hero 2 is one of the best fighting games i have ever played. I am a fan of the Naruto series, and this game follows it perfectly. The game also has an hugh roster of characters, each with their own unique fighting styles as well as special abilitys. If your an fan of the series like i am then please get this game. As well as Naruto: Narutmate Hero 3, which is coming out on dec. of the 22th. 2005 :D
The best Naruto game This is by far the Best Naruto game on the market, one can only hope for a third sequal, it is unique with a 2d two level fighting system, and video specials. You can also switch around justus.
Itai! This game is too good! For all you Naruto fans out there (myself), this is the newest improvement of NH 1 for the Playstation 2. The graphics have been smoothed out and the jutsus are getting more and more awesome. If you haven't gotten the first one yet, get it. And then come back and get this one. Eventhough the chakra attacks are a bit more simple, it still is the best out of the two because of its wider range of gameplay. The story mode is great and the characters seem to get more and more close to what Kishimoto had started. Boy, if you don't get this game, you aren't living life. So get it.
Really nice game... This was the game that introduced me to the Naruto anime. This game plays noting like the DBZ games. This game plays lot more like Super Smash Bros. Only this game offers offers much better gameplay. And the special moves are a killer just to sit back and watch. If you get this game you won't be disapointed.
Sounds Awesome I haven't bought the game yet, but I am saving up. I wanted to know if you need a japanese memory card in order to save a game on it. I played NGT 3 and it was awesome, I bet this game is gonna be twice as good.
Move over DBZ Budokai 3! First let me just say that everything else everyone has said about this game kicking ass is true. I thought it was going to be a DBZ rip off, but it totally tears the envelope in half with originality. If you were to take Ninja + Budokai + Super Smash Brothers and smash them together, you would get this game. It has a really simple game mechanic but in that simplicity lies more depth than any other fighter. Never have i seen so many moves packed into one button, lol. Ofcourse there are other buttons, but Circle will be your weapon of choice for this slugfest. The play depth is really amazing and you get that feeling that you really are a ninja when you just teleport out of what would be a brutal attack and leave behind a log, then counter with a little ass-whipping of your own. If you like the anime or if you just like ninja in general, then this si the game for you! Dont hesitate, buy this now! in fact, stop reading this and add it to your shopping cart and click check out! congratz! you win!
kakko ii A lot of people like to compare this game with Gekitou Ninja Taisen 3 and declare that one is better than the other. Doing so is like comparing Smash Brothers to Street Fighter, they are totally different games. GNT3 is primarily a fun, fast paced party game that requires little in the way of "tactics". However, NH2 is a more traditional fighting game that requires timing and some use of your surroundings. The combo system is simple and fun, but this simplicity can be overcome by a good player that knows how to "kawarami" mid-combo. The special moves are simply fantastic, but the button mashing involved in pulling them off is tedious. The graphics and styling are based on the Naruto manga, and not so much on the anime. This creates a very unique look that I personally prefer to most cell-shaded games on the market.

Troublesome, but WORTH IT!!! This is my very fist import, and i had to customize my Playstation2 to run it. I also had to buy a new TV, cause my old one didn`t support the NTSC-system of the game. But Naruto-fan or not, trust me ....IT IS WORTH IT!!!!
The Graphics are almost similar to the Anime, same voices, same Jutsus, same Fighting Stages!
The japanese language is a little bit troublesome for a gaijin like me, but with the gamefaqs you´ll handle the storymode.
And last but not least:
THANK YOU
PLAY-ASIA
AND UPS (4 days)
You guys rock!!!!
The Best Anime Fighter Around If you have any doubts in your mind, then get rid of them. This game is everything you want and more. Being my first imported game i was a bit hesitant but my decision to buy t was well made. The graphics are awsome and make the cut scenes and delivery of the game just incredible. The fighting engine is not the most elaborate but it is one of the best making this game to appeal to anime fans and non anime fans. The story mode is awsome and you can execute all your favorite moves from all your favorite characters. Get the game and see for yourself.
Best Anime-Based Game Ever!! This game is great...as Play-Asia is great. I got this game in THREE days and I live in Brazil. This is amazing, Play-Asia! Thank you. ^^
With this game, a Naruto fan will have loads and loads of fun. There is a great RPG mode, which you can use 33 characters and change their status as they grow their fighting experience, you get jutsus along the game and then you can make fun and weird jutsu combinations for each character! Like equipping Sasuke's Katon Goukakyuu and his Shishi Rendan on Sakura! Yeah, I had tons of fun with this mode...and it's relatively big. =]
Also, you can make missions and score more money and experience with them. Depending on which rank of the mission, the harder it is to accomplish, but the rewards get even better and better. So cool...
About the fights...they're unbelievable. There are 33 characters, 27 of them have super special attacks called 'Ougi's. You hit triangle from one to three times (depending on which level of chakra you want to use) and then hitting circle, you'll get into a beautiful cutscene, which you have to do certain commands to continue the cutscene and deal lodas of heavy damage on your opponent! Also, the graphics are great (I simply LOVE the battlefields, they are very pretty and really big...also, you can 'teleport' from the foreground to the background! It's so cool...) and the sound effects, background music, character voices...everything is perfect.
This game is perfect!!!! o_o
The only problem you'll have is getting used to the gameplay (it's kinda hard to control the character at first, but hey, you can change the controller configurations for the way you think you'll be 'safer') and the Japanese language. I can't read any Japanese, so I used the FAQs at www.gamefaqs.com ...
I guess that's it...buy Narutimate Hero 2 or you'll regret it later! To make you feel even more happy, I will tell you some characters that are really nice to play with...Kisame...Itachi...Sandaime...Kyuubi Naruto...Kabuto...Sealed Orochimaru...Tsunade..Shizune...OMG all characters are fun! This game deserves 3962385632153475328562956902376927 stars!! o_o *goes insane* And it's better than the one for GameCube, I can tell you that cuz I have them both. =] If you don't have a japanese PS2, buy it HERE and NOW! xD
Whew. Now I think I'm gonna use Itachi and spam Tsukiyomi on Kakashi...heheheh...
*runs*
PS: Buy this game here at Play-Asia, you won't regret it! Also, I would like to congratulate UPS. They're just great too. ^^
Awesome Beat Em' Up This may be the best Fightinggame i ever played in my entire life or maybe the best game on the ps2, dont even read this download the game or buy it, because if i were you guys i wouldnt wait;P
very great Naruto Fan !!!!!!!! on 19, Jan. 2005 06:43 (HKT)

Awsome This is my first Naruto game (Big Series Fan) and I most say, most anime based games dissapoint me, for the fights or the RPG do not match the real thing, and I end up VERY frustrated. Naruttimett was a HUGE exception. It sticks nicely to spirit of the series, and the colored-manga-like-Graphics (yup, i just made that up) still hold enough 3d to amaze you. The battles are also good, a little hard to grasp justsus, but once you get hold of the technique you can see beatifully animated techniques including most of characters signature moves (Sexy no Jutsu, Summoning no Jutsu and many more). Lots of characters too, and it keeps the body languaje of all of them (Hinata would not be Hinata without hands up front) nice RPG with many mini games too. Well my only problem right now is languaje, for I know NONE japanese, but that proves that you can move foreward just by anime or manga knowledge.
5 stars for this one, i hope an English version of this comes out SOON, for i would sure like to know what are they talking.
naruto:narutimett hero 2 only one word to describe this gam.GREAT!!!.my flat mate moans at me for hogging the television set.But its all worth it.you can be uchiha itachi for christ sakes.can naruto games get any better.i still need to get gekitou ninja taisen 3 but this game seems like a winner.Any proper naruto fan should scrap christmas shopping and by this for themselves...
The best Narutoish Game Ever! I, as a Naruto Fan, when I first heard about this game, I got really excited to buy it. And that's what I did. I didn't have a Japanese Playstation2, I only had the English one. So, I sold the English with all my games and bought the Japanese only because of this game...
I can give you five reasons for buying this game:
~ There are many types of battle modes;
~ There are a lot of characters. If I'm not mistakes, there are 33;
~ There is a great RPG mode;
~ The graphics are insanely well done;
~ The soundtrack is also great.
But the things I like most in Narutimett Hero 2...are the Ougi Attacks (Special Attacks). You watch some scenes of your character using its best abilities. It is really incredible.
I encourage all of you to buy it.
Well done, Play-Asia! This is a game that everyone wants!
great the graphics are awesome, u dont have to b a fan of a series to be pulled in by the ninja fast gameplay. tons of characters to choose from. game can be played hours on end and never gets old. a must have for fans of the anime especially.
Great Game ok the graphics arent that good, but what the heck i dont care cuz this is the best fighting game out there if you dont have it buy it, all the characters u want are in there, Naruto, sasuke, Itachi, Kakashi, rock lee, Gai-Sensei and much more i give it 5 stars out of 5.
Excellent This game showcases the greatness in the Naruto series. The fighting is left to right, which I think is better then Naruto:Gekitou Ninja Taisen, with a 3-D map, because it has all the camera issues. It has many characters, all of which basically play different. There is a sense of balance, well minus Itachi, and its a great party game, even if it is only two players. Buy it!
Yeah ya... For every single Narutard, this is the best game yet. Every character in the anime is in there, and every recent special character move is there too! My friend has this game and tells me the Naruto movie characters are playable! Though if it's wrong, you didn't hear from me... If you buy it, you won't regret it... GO PLAY-ASIA!!
Superb - and I am german withouth knowing japanese The game is good. It is tough even on a lower difficulty, though it makes fun. The moves are good, but there are too less Hit/Kicki Possibillities I think.
Though, the game is super. And on GAME FAQs you can find atranslations! So I can play it even in germany!
for black sabbath I think it might be difficult to play if you don't know much Japanese. Any fan of the show should be able to recognize what's happening in the story mode, but the winning conditions of each battle are harder to guess. However, there are a couple of walkthroughs on gamefaqs.com that should make it much easier.
really good... the game is really good, though some characters are... umm.. ridiculously weak ( kakashi is supposed to be a pro!) but the animations are VERY nice especially Naruto's and Kakashi's. only prob is that the story mood is hard to understand without english (you'll get it after a few fights though)
Best of the Best... This is really a must buy for all Naruto fans out there. The first time I played this game, i was like, "Wow! this is really... 'NARUTO'!!". The game really has all the actions and excitements of the anime in it. Really, fans wont be disappointed AT ALL! I myself dont know japanese but i really love playing it, and i'm now addicted to it! Its not really difficult playing it, once you know the beat of the game, it's going to be really really fun. Enjoy!
question... i was wondering, im a huge fan of naruto, but a little rusty on my japanese, i was wondering if its easy or difficult to play with no or little english in this game.
hardcore I think this game is great. It isnt as much of a solid fighter as the gamecube versions are, but it has way better graphics, you can do a lot more, and i love how it goes with the manga.
Yeah its ok...I guess.. I think the fighting system is really odd. I guess I'm the only one that thinks that since all these people love this game so much. But yeah I really think it could use some work, the gamecube Naruto games are still better then ps2 efforts. And maybe next time they could put this online... IT WOULD REALLY HELP BANDAI =D!!
Best Fighting Game This game is one of the best fighting games that I've played. The numerous numbers of backgrounds that you can choose in the vs and practice mode are awesome not to mention it has many layers.
The graphics are very good, resembling the anime character almost perfectly. There's not much else to say about the game but to buy it, you won't be disappointed at all!!
Great game but repetitive. The game is great and all, but it can get really old seeing the same super being done way to many times. It is great seeing the super done the first few times but after that I get mad :\
Great game and program! I really like this program. It has a programming disc with this, and it works great! It shows how to code/model, and gives you examples! Defintely recommended!
i love this game i love this game, but i cant get past the rpg mode. can anyone help me with any websites regarding an english translation to the game?
This game must buy for all Naruto fans!!! This game is one of the best games for Naruto. The number characters just keep on increasing with each new title! It is amazing and fun!!! All the control and gameplay are realistic. And aslo the RPG mode is a new addtion, but for for a real RPG game for Naruto...
Worth the money and more... The game is very good and graphics is very good as well. I personally didnt think much of it because its an "anime/manga" game and many of them are there to attract existing fans just because its based off of that series. But this game goes beyond that and its very good.
BTW, Loony I thin you are being a little too harsh on Shako_farhad there. I know enough japanese to get by (this game and others) and I am an American. Shako_farhad really shouldnt have made that comment because in itself it was "stupid" because its a japanese game and so it should be in japanese and if its in English it would be a US release not Japan. Its like japanese people wanting some US PC games to have japanese subtitles which is just absurd.
Good, but not Great I admit playing this game has its strengths such as RPG mode, but I must say when you have friends over and want to play a fun game for everybody, Naruto Genkei Taisen 2 (and soon to be 3) is much more fun because of Gamecube's four players mode and better smash brothers-type gameplay. I recommend waiting for Naruto GT3 to come out sometime this winter if you want a fun multiplayer game.
5 stars?? we need 9999999999!! Last year i bought Naruto Narutimett Hero 1 out of the blue and fell in love with it. Now I'm hoked and I cant stop playign NNH2!! This games is no doubt the best PS2 game on this site as of now. The cel shading is awsome. The gameplay is out of comtroll., and the number od characters just keep on increasing with each new title! If you only have $70 to blow on your cred card....I STRONGLY recomend buying this!
Best Naruto sequel Too bad they changed the special attack system, the rythm based system was better. But the Rpg mode is very complete indeed and will please everyone who likes the manga (the japanese manga I mean)
By the way shako_farhad who the hell english speaking people think they are, do you assume japanese people gonna force themselves to release english speaking titles in their own country just because dumb ass americans are not smart enough to learn japanese. o_O
This game rules all of you..... This game is one of the best games I have but the only thing that they could have added is english text because it is many american people who orderes this game and we want too understand every thing but if you dont think of that the game rules it is one of the best the gameplay is very fast they even added movie charakters and the mode rules it is RPG........ :)
