Initial D: Special Stage is a racing game based on the hit anime Initial D and Sega Rosso's hit arcade racer Initial D: Arcade Stage. The PS2 version will feature a new Story Mode which differs from the arcade version. The story progresses by clearing the mission of each stage. There are a total of 11 courses, 31 playable vehicles and animated cartoon cutscenes throughout the game.
Worth buying. If you like Initial D, you will like this game. It has everything that the arcade versions have, and even though the physics are different from V3 and V4 it's still an enjoyable game. The graphics may not be as great as other driving games, but you probably don't play Initial D for the graphics anyway. If you don't understand Japanese the menus might be difficult to navigate.

A great game I just got mine last Thursday. It's a great game I should say, it has a fast learning curve, even though the Japanese language can set you off for a while. Thanks play-asia for the fast delvery!

=D Very good game. Plays just like V2. Although if u understand the arcade physics, or ur a good player in IDAS V2 OR V3... this game might be very easy to begin with. Some of the courses that aren't included in V2 or V3 will be a challenge... This game lasts very long...
I love it! I've played this briefly in the arcades, and I just got this for my Japanese PS2. I love it! I definitley enjoy the fact that you are playing a game that is in "Japan" mountainside. It makes me feel like I'm right there, racing the hillsides with my homies, outside of Osaka and Tokyo.
Screens are not that hard to understand, but the storyline is impossible, if you don't speak Japanese. I don't, so I might look for a little translation help.
This was included as part of a package I bought on another website, but I would say its worth at least US$20.00. Not more than US$40.00. US$34.99 seems like a fair price to me. I like the idea of seeing the racers and the cars they are associated with. I would like to see a sexy girl racer in the next outing. That would be sweet!

This looks good Just got this game from an auction and looking forward to playing it. Played in arcades a few times. Lacking in some areas, but excellent in others. Should be fun!

Good, with some flaws If you've played in the arcade, then you know what to expect here. However, the physics are considerably different from the latest arcade game (v3) - I've heard it's based on the older v2. It controls very well with Logitech's force feedback wheels, but sensitivity is nothing like the arcade version, and you have to use the d-pad to shift on the Driving Force or DF Pro. As mentioned, there is no 2 player mode, at all. It's still great fun for getting your fix, though, and I've spent countless hours playing Special Stage. The addition of the reasonably lengthy Story mode, a selection of nearly 3 dozen songs, and several new courses adds immensely to the replay value.

No title initial d is good cause u can relive the anime series. speed down and or up japanese windy roads, its awsome get yours today.
A must-have for Initial D fans... It might not be one of the best racing game, but it's the funnest one so far. The best feature of the console version is the Story Mode where you play the role of Takumi, which reflects the manga storyline. They also use the actual voice actors & actresses from the anime on this game. Like I said before, a must-have for Initial D fans.

Initial D is awesome. Initial D Special Stage is the best racing game and it's based on the animated series and on the arcade versions.
Last time, a few months ago, I played Initial D in the arcades by using link play. But in the console version, can't use multiplayer mode. I love to watch Initial D (1st Stage, 2nd Stage) on DVD by using the Japanese tricked out version (without English subtitles), just Signs only subtitles.
I love Japanese TV shows ever especially some anime. COOL! I wish I can play again and again.

IDSS This game is great on so many levels, each car has a different feel to it (trust me when you play it enough you will feel a difference), each course has its own challanges. Manga Mode is incredibly tough for beginners which is a bit of a let down however it becomes too easy once you get a good grib on the game. Main problem is no multiplayer they should add this for the next idss game.
IDSS This game is quite different from other racing games, the physics of the engines and moverability of each car is completely different to the other. This game gets high stars, the only downfall is there are only 31 stages (missions) however this counterattacked by having quite tough req's to complete them in if you want an S ranking, you will need to master your car and learn each track by heart.
Tracks from Arcade stage 3 aren't in this game like Akina snow, shomaru or tschkaba(sp) however this game has different (true) versions of Myogi/Usui/Shomaru and the Seven Star Reafs course (undercovered gutters) which is only seen in Stage 4 anime. The only other problem I have with it is it's only 1 player, fix that and add a few more missions, maybe a few different perspectives like impact blue's races, Tak, man in evo and maybe some while training, since Simone is Shingo's friend impact blue and the night kids might have been training before they became somebodies..
just a thought.
A must buy this is a great asset and will be played constantly.

Initial D : Special Stage I am a big fan of all racing game and this is a pretty good one. The streets feel a little narrow and the car takes a sec to get use to... The story mode is great. If you're a fan, you will love it. You do everything from delivering the tofu with a cup of water in the cup holder, to trying to make Cole pass out in the passanger seat. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is there is no 2 player mode :-(

Initial D : Special Stage The gameplay is good. The graphics are good. The music is good. But....where did the multiplayer go? No multiplayer KILLS the game here. Really. I still go to the arcades and play anyways because there is no multiplayer modes. I mean, after you beat it once, you're up and done. Singleplayer only get's you so far. Still fun to play the first time-just sell it on E-Bay after you beat it once.
THIS ISTHE BEST GAME EVER I love this game,i have played it is the best game ever.I havent played it in my ps2 but i have played it in an arcade and it is very cool.so i ordered it for ps2 i think it is going to be very cool too

Lonely Drivers unite!!! This game is awesome!! I'll make this simple.
Pros: Great control, great arcade style gameplay, a really good manga mode(cutscenes are actual scans from the manga with the actual voice actors from the anime, and consists of stage 1, 2, special, and project d arc!!) and this game features some of the best racing tunes to ever grace a racing game!! While other racing games use hiphop cough*Need*cough*For Speed*cough thus lowers the over all excitment of the race... this game uses the actual anime ost Eurobeat tunes!! The Eurobeat songs really add to the intesity of the race while you drift through the corners of mount akina!
The cons are: Can't raise the volume of the BGM, graphics are a bit grainy... almost equivalant to the Dreamcast, knowing japanese or having a faq nearby is almost a must... almost no english in this game whatsoever, also sometimes continuing a race when your opponent has overtaken you is almost always futile, thus the suspense is lowered a bit.
Still, this is a great game that no fan of initial d should miss!!!! Get this game now or suffer the wrath of the tricked-out(in other words, MUTILATED) US version (which will most likely star your favorite heroes; Tak, Ry, KT, and Iggy while they race to no-name garage band tracks and hiphop tunes) GET THE JAP VERSION NOW!!!
This game rocks!! For those of you who have been waiting for the next Gran Turismo like me, you should definitely try Initial D. This is by far the most beautiful and the most fun to play street racing game available in the martket. If you are a big ass Japanese anime and a big ass street racing fan, go grab a copy and dont hesitate to waste all of ur evening to play such an awesome game.
