description

n the not so distant future… Desperate to find a way to save the earth from pollution, mankind created a gigantic supercomputer and named it Noah. Noah’s solution, however, was to exterminate its creators. In a matter of days, civilization fell to terrifying weapons and monsters created by Noah. This cataclysmic event came to be known as the Great Destruction. As the years passed, the number of human survivors grew, slowly but steadily. They formed villages and towns, living off of technology that they were able to salvage from the piles of wreckage.Among the survivors were those who rose up to fight Noah's robotic henchmen. To track down and eliminate these threats to humanity, they utilized the most powerful weapons still operable after the Great Destruction—tanks! As a sign of respect, people nicknamed them “hunters.”Noah, the cause of the Great Destruction, was in fact destroyed by one such hunter. However, its ruthless offspring still roamed the world, striking fear in people’s heart. Now, a young man prepares to set foot into the deadly desert wasteland to make a name for himself, as did his father, a veteran hunter...

A must play for RPG & tank enthusiasts
Metal Saga is a sandbox RPG which gives the player a lot of freedom, has a very nice soundtrack, interesting world setting and on point humor. It's a game both merciless and merciful, because although you're very likely to engage tough enemies you're not prepared to fight with ease, should you die, there is no game over, you can be resurrected how many times you want. Now, the problems: it lacks voiced lines (and I mean it, no one has voice in this game) and it's packed with a frustrating amount of loading times, even moving between two areas that share the same textures! This game was meant to the older model of PlayStation 2 and is one of the very few titles to support HDD installation but, by the time it was launched, the "Slim" model was already the most popular model of PS2. There is a side-quest to search for 80 "Big Medals", but two of them are glitched (if you pick up one, the other disappears), and this bug exists in all versions of the game. I highly recommend to play it on an emulator to get rid of the annoying amount of loadings but, whatever method you play Metal Saga, it is worth checking. There are not many games like the ones from Metal Max series.

unique
this is a unique RPG, I did not play the Metal Max games before. but this is by far the most unique and different RPG on the PS2

One of the most unique RPG's on the Playstation 2
Metal Saga is the latest of iteration of the Metal Max series - previously only released in Japan on the NES/SNES - and is a wonderfully unconventional take on the genre.
Open ended (sometimes to a fault) and at time hilarious - thanks to Atlus USA's excellent localisation - it won't win any awards for it's graphics or soundtrack, but if you're after something off the beaten track then look no further.
Now if only someone would localise the DS sequel...
