description
Developed by Monolith Soft studios, Namco x Capcom features a total of more than 200 characters originating from game series published by both software studios, such as Street Fighters, Darkstalkers, Ghouls n' Ghosts, Strider, Dino Crisis 4, Resident Evil Dead Aim (for the Capcom side) and Xenosaga, Soul Calibur, Valkyrie Dentetsu, Tales of Eternia, Tekken, Wonder Momo, Bravoman and Klonoa (for the Namco side).

The strategic RPG style game features 3D maps and an animated into sequence done by Production IG. Takuji Kawano, the anime studio behind such masterpieces like Ghost in the Shell and the Tales series anime and more.

The battle system is turn based, you can use the character's special attacks, as well as super moves and dual attacks (for specific characters only, such as Dimitri and Morrigan). Easy action sequences have been implemented in the form of cut-ins. The two main characters of the game are Reiji Arisu and Shao Mu.

    Fan Dream Crossover
Well, I've played a small amount of crossovers, but I have to say this one took my vote in favorite due to incredible character interaction and a pretty good plot.

For those of you who have been doing your homework, you might already know the story of the game focuses on Shinra agents Arisu Reiji and pipsqueak-fox Xiaomu. The two come across dimensional distortions, only to meet the Xenosaga cast (Shion Uzuki, KOS-MOS, and MOMO). Over time the two protagonist and their out-of-this-world crew of futuristic followers come to meet other characters from both Namco and Capcom titles.

The gameplay might ring the bell if you've played Super Robot War series, because it so happens that the director of NxC has also worked on a few SRW games back in his day. However, NxC is what you would call one of the easiest SRPGs ever, but it's not to say it's bad for that. It just loses points because even in 'Expert Mode', a special mode you unlock upon completing the game, is still fairly easy.

The game is fun in my standards, however it does feel like a chore here and there due to how repetitive the game can get. One strategy you may have used in one chapter may be used once again in any of the 45 chapters of the game (5 are prologue, so that brings it to a total of 50), which can easily get dull. However, there's the fact that if you're like me and love to power level, or lose a chapter on purpose to keep all EXP and items earned, then you could be entertained a little for crushing your enemies with little to no effort.

All in all, this game is pretty much worth the money to get if you're a fan of Namco and Capcom games. There's a small language barrier when it comes to gameplay, and a huge one when it comes to plot (given you can read Japanese). If you're a fan of SRPGs, it wouldn't hurt to try due to the reduced price.... So, feel free to try it out!

    Amazing game!
This is the game I bought when I bought my flip top on my PS2. For those who know of any Capcom crossover game,(Marvel vs Capcom, Capcom vs SNK, etc) they are usually good. This is no exception. NXC is an action/tactics/fighting game, which is different compared to all the other crossovers. Take Final Fantasy Tactics, and whenever your character attacks something, you go into a fighting game-esque style of attacking, with combos and specials and everything. The backgrounds are all in 3-D, and the characters (all 200+ recognizable faces from the Namco and Capcom worlds, such as Chun Li from Street Fighter and KOS-MOS from Xenosaga) are beautifully animated 2-D. The game has enough english to figure out what do to, and really only took me about 10 minutes to figure out. All in all, its a great game! Really fun to play!

    Good:
The game is really great! Fun to play! And the charcaters and animations are awesome!

    Bad:
Theres alot of dialogue, so youre missing out on alot of story. But heh, thats what online translation guides are for.

    Ditto:
    KOS-MOS is in this game!

    Cross-Over Madness
Here is a fine example of a brilliant collaboration of two video game giants. The main reson i love this game is because of the awesome 2D sprites and artwork. The over-all system is that of a strategy RPG, except the battles take place in real-time and you control the moves your characters execute to rack up combo bonuses. It's extremely easy to pick up on. The opening sequence and music are also very note worthy. As much as i would love to see this game localized for the US, i dont see it happening. So grab this gem while you can and enjoy it!

    A great game.
This game is definetly a good one, there are many characters that alot of people will be familiar with (Darkstalkers, Street Fighter, Resident Evil Dead Aim) For the Capcom side. (Xenosaga, Tekken 5, etc) for the Namco side. The battle system is very nifty and easy to pick up even if you don't know Japanese. Pick up this game now!

    A truly superb game
If you, by any means like the characters from most of the major franchises by either of these superb game companies (and if you can get over the shock that they don't have Dante or any Resident Evil) you will love this game. It uses an interesting battle system fairly similar to that of Final Fantasy Tactics or La Pucelle Tactics. One thing that people seem to either love or hate is the extremely chibi art style, which is extremely cute however if you don't like that kind of art I wouldn't recomend this game. However if you want to play an amazingly fun fighter/RPG then pick up a copy of this game...you won't regret it.
