Solid but unspectacular adventure game
I've probably played this game very late in the PS2 life, so I thought that the game has aged rather badly.
Graphics - bland and lifeless. Even Samanosuke's armor is so rusted that it looked like a lobster shell. The character faces are also quite dull and for a 2004 game, is quite disappointing. Still, there are some pleasant graphics - the water effects at the underwater temple and the seaside village is quite pretty to look at.
The gameplay is also varied - it's quite easy to navigate through the game even when there are tons of enemies. Playing as Jean is quite interesting as you don't rely on ranged weapons despite being able to use pistols for the coup de grace.
Overall, it is a solid adventure game but the visuals are subpar.

Excellent hack n slash. Reminds me of SNK's Sengoku. If only there are more variety of weapons it'll have been perfect! Great graphics too.

Onimusha 3 is the best series of the Onimusha games and has great graphics and the handling is great too with the analog stick.
