Incredible land, a new "tale" begins...
Well acclaimed since the release of the first work of the series in December 1995, the highly popular "Tales" series is finally coming up with a new installment.
In this game, the traditional LMBS (Linear Motion Battle System) has evolved into a more vibrant X-LMBS (Crossover LMBS)! In addition, the "windowed conversation" has been enhanced with new elements, displaying the activeness of the new work to seek new ground. Up until now, character design has been taken charge by "Kosuke Fujishima" and "Mutsumi Inomata", but now "Kazuto Nakazawa" of international fame has been tasked with this job. With this breath of freshness and charm, as well as the differences with other games of the "Tales" series, you should definitely give it a try!
In this new work, action elements found in fighting games like "Tekken" are introduced into the "LMBS (Linear Motion Battle System)" to form an even more complete and evolved "X-LMS (Crossover-LMBS)".
Besides the classical use of TP (Technical Point) in the series to execute special as well as secret moves, new "throw" actions are introduced to make battles more varied. To execute these new moves, one has to get up close to the enemy. Upon successful execution, the damage inflicted and the sense of satisfaction derived are unmatched by other moves.
A "Climax Combo" is performed for simultaneous attacks with other party members! With four party members putting their hearts into pummeling the enemy, the power and pressure created is definitely unmatched by solo attacks, and the graphical effects are also quite impressive!
The use of deluxe voice casting crew, accentuated in the day-today conversations of the characters in the "windowed conversation", is one of the most charming points of "Legendia". In this work, this system is further introduced into events, allowing you to listen to advice dished out by party members as the event unfolds, and enjoy the rich and varied plot developments through the conversations. Not only the main characters will make their appearances in this system, but even sub-characters or even enemy characters will have exciting performances!
When exploring dungeons, it is no longer just about defeating monsters and gaining experience, but there will be many fascinating and wonderful traps and triggers waiting for you! The player's wit will be tested here.

A Different Yet Satisfying Tales Experience
Fans of other Tales games may be turned off when they hear that a different team was responsible for Legendia, but don't let that stop you from enjoying it. Legendia still has a lot to offer.
The visual style has its ups and downs. I like cutesy character designs, but sometimes it felt like they tried to fit too much detail into these smaller proportioned characters. It's still pleasing to look at though. An upside though is that the skit scenes use full bodied anime images, rather than just predominantly portraits (ToS and TotA). The high point of the visuals are the backgrounds and environments. They are very lush, colorful, and full of detail. In some buildings, it felt like I was looking into a real-life doll house.
My first impression of the battle system in Legendia was that it was much slower-paced than in other tales games. You fight on a 2-D axis, so no rotation like in ToS. It can get a little visually hectic at times, with all characters on the same plane, frequently overlapping each other, but I got accustomed to it as I played more.
Musically, the game is very enjoyable. There is no Sakuraba, but I still enjoyed the music. The battle themes may not have been favorites, but those played when running around the world seemed to fit the environments well.
Overall, fans of the more recent Tales games may not find the same enjoyment as in Symphonia or Abyss, but that doesn't mean it is a bad game.
Fans of other Tales games may be turned off when they hear that a different team was responsible for Legendia, but don't let that stop you from enjoying it. Legendia still has a lot to offer.

Mediocre and Melodramatic
While it has fantastic music and good voice acting, most everything else about the game you can find elsewhere and better. Assuming you are wanting to play a "Tales of" game, there is no reason to own this game when you can buy the latest installment, Tales of Vesperia, instead.

Great Game!
This game's great,there're so many things to do that's really difficult for you to get tired.the battle system's great and smooth,and the storyline'll make you spend lots of hours playing it.a masterpiece you can't miss on your RPG games collection!

A Legendary Adventure
This game has many flaws. Firstly, the game uses the regular Linear Motion Battle System with no new invention except Senel痴 ability to throw stuff. In addition, it does not support multiplayerability. Many of the spells that look awesome in other Tales of games look weak in Tales of Legendia. For example, the spell 的ndignation looks like a small bolt of lightning instead of a massive crashing lightning bolt that fills up the screen.
Also, the first half of the story is simply 都ave the girl that gets kidnapped, which isn稚 very exciting. However, Tales of Legendia does have many strong points.
The game痴 soundtrack is excellently orchestrated, unlike the soundtracks of other games in the series. Also, it is composed by Go Shina instead of the usual group of Motoi Sakuraba, Shinji Tamura, and a guest.
The characters are also very original(except Shirley, who is kidnapped for half of the game). My favorite characters to play were Senel, Chloe, and Moses. The characters of Tales of Legendia probably have the most original weapons. Senel uses fists, Chloe is a sword wielding female, Moses uses sticks, Norma uses straws, Will uses hammers, Shirley uses quills, and Grune uses jars and I forgot what Jay used. The characters have unique personalities. Moses and Norma are really funny.
I really liked the voice acting in Tales of Legendia, although the voiced scenes only last for half the game.
