Ages ago, the world was like any other. But, two apocalyptic wars changed everything. The sky has been sealed off by a deadly electromagnetic field and the ground is now an ocean of death. Humanity lives life peacefully suspended above the sea on continents powered by the magical tower of Ar Tonelico and protected by the knights of Elemia. However, evil is lurking upon humanity threatening the peace and balance of Ar Tonelico.
Ar Tonelico takes place in the world of Sol Ciel, a small world consisting of nothing more than a tower and a floating continent. This small world is isolated by the Sea of Death below and a deadly sea of plasma above. The game also features a rare group of people called the Reyvateil, which, through the power of Songs, can converse with the world and cast powerful magic. However, in order to cast more powerful magic, they have to take a harmful material called Grathnode into their bodies, through an act called Install. Since the Install is a very painful experience for the Reyvateils, they only let people that they really trust to do it. The story centers on Lyner Barsett, an eighteen-year-old whose father governs Platina, a town located in the top floors of the tower. Lyner is uninterested in politics, and instead seeks adventure in the army. However, when a strange virus appears and they can't defeat it, Lyner is assigned the task to go down to the floating continent and retrieve a mystical artifact to defeat the virus.

Nostalgic RPG If you're looking for a good nostalgic RPG, you’ve come to the right place.
Random encounters, customizable equipment and a very unique battle system.
The story isn't bad but not great.
And the game feels very easy once you get a hang of the battle system.
Overall: 3.5 / 5

No title This is an incredibly fun RPG. The battle system is very unique and the storyline is hilarious! If you only have played the second one, I recommend that you play this one too. It's way better than the second one and the characters are very charming! With the third one in the series coming out soon, you can't go wrong with this.

Average, but not bad It's a pretty average RPG. Nothing outstanding, but not fully forgetable. Don't expect something on the level of Final Fantasy, and you'll find enough enjoyment out of it.
