SMT Nocturne
A great game, awesome storyline, great characters and amazing visiual style. Mix that with a great soundtrack and you got SMT Nocturne. And I seriously suggest you to buy this if you are an RPG Fan of any kind. Just go get it now before its sold out!

The Perfect RPG
This game is still considered to be the top JRPG since it was released in 2004 and for good reasons: featuring most creative atmospheric look in any RPG to date, an excellent music score that is still to be surpassed by any other game and of course the most revolutionary battle system seen in any RPG. The game's story is surprisingly engaging considering the lack of long cut scenes and long conversations between characters and the game features multiple endings. There is also an optional dungeon with multiple optional bosses, and if you need a challenge there is a hard difficulty.

Excellent game. If you are rpg hard core you most have it, the graphics are great the music wonderfull. The history is amazing!!!.

Exceptionally good rpg
If you like jrpgs, and are not familiar with the SMT series, do yourself a favor and buy this rigth away, otherwise you migth find yourself bumping ur head against a wall in a few years after it is no longer available. You wondering why I say that? Well for starters, this game is not ur typical jrpg in which the hero is an effeminate boy out to prevent the world's destruction, in fact world's end is the very beggining of the game :D, and you have to find your reason, so that you can recreate the world in your image. Now, the story is not the only unique thing about this game... It has an atmosphere very hard to describe, that feels unsettling in a good way, thanks to the visual design by Kazuma Kaneko, and (for me) the best soundtrack yet from Shoji Meguro. The music here uses Metal style guitar riffs, or Organs, or a combination of both, you will find none of that hip-hop crap or j-pop numb inducing music found in Persona 3, or 4 (That's about the only thing I disliked from those games, even though the osts are also by S. Meguro).

A must have for SMT fans and RPG players
While the Playstation 2 has a large library of RPG games, Nocturne has earned its place as one of the top RPGs. It has an interesting storyline (plot twist even at the beginning of the game), the fight system is awesome, the soundtrack is well composed and suits the game nicely, and the visuals are amazing. Most RPGs can be completely within days; Nocturne should take over a week or two to fully enjoy. Nocturne delivers an excellent service to Shin Megami Tensei and RPG players. I've gone through this game 100% and still find myself playing the game again. While it may seem long and somewhat difficult and unforgiving, the good definitely outweighs the bad in this game.

I give this game 4.5/5, but meh, round it off to 5 :P

Not just one of the best RPGs I've ever played (and I REALLY played a lot...), but simply the best PS2 game out there... buy it now and you won't regret!!

although i already own it (with the soundtrack thank god ^_^) this game is hands down amazing and its a lucky break to find one, so i recommend.....BUY IT!

gameplay wise think pokemon but demons plus as a bonus dante from dmc is a special character and an endless horde of demons to join you and plenty of combination possibilities.

excellent story, amazing graphics, outstanding sound track, and unique game play.

Great game, get it NOW
First of all, I want to thank Play-Asia getting new copies of this game. Been looking for it for some time.

SMT: Nocturne is a turn-based RPG, which really isn't your ordinary happy or angsty RPG. Here, you won't just get new party members, you have to get them YOURSELF. And no, I don't mean humans...I mean, you know, DEMONS. Getting them to join beside you isn't an easy job, so you have to know what you're doing. You also have to get stronger in order to survive in the new wor- oh sorry, can't tell you anymore. Play the game yourself to find about it lots more.

I really recommend to get this game, especially from here, because you don't see new copies everywhere nowadays. Happy gaming!

Outstanding RPG
Im a big fan of this game its massive and engrossing, completely non-linear, has loads of interesting enemies/comrades, compelling and original (if a little dark) storyline and a great imagery.

previous reviewer really has no idea about this game, there are well over 100 different foes.

SMT has received an almost cult following of loyal fans who really appreciate the originality and complexity of the SMT series... other people play soccer games

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax!
This game reeks of crap! This game constamtly forces you to fight the same enemies for hours in the game! And the only way to defeat them is to use some crappy fire, ice, wind, water or earth type magic that fit's the enemy's weakness! The game lags and the story is boring and uninteresting! The character sucks, ugly and the designer should have put more thought into him! The design on his body looks terrable and needs work! The character walk aroun lifeless and can't do anything until a screen splash forcing you to do battle with the same lame monsters that could not possibly be in the same place you are! It seems that, wherever you go, those same monsters tag along! The world look pretty shabby, also! In this day and time in the video game idustry there is a thing called "Graphics"! Which the developers did a bad job learning in game design! Everything about this game is ugly or sucks! "And this is supposed to be the the 3rd and newest one?" I feel sorry for those that have have not played the first and previous versions to get a real good look at why this game should be banned instead of Grand Theft Auto!-wildfire04j
