Konami's popular soccer simulation series continues with a release dedicated to the 2006 World Cup. Produced by Shingo Takatsuka (responsible for previous Winning Eleven releases as well), several improvements have been made to allow an even more realistic as well as uninterrupted game flow.
The game features new player motions, with particular attention having been paid to movement for when players shoot. The cursor change now reacts more sensitively when selecting your active player as well as less yellow & red card issued by the referee. The CPU's A.I. has been improved further, giving each team a more characteristic touch. Further, a Pitch Reporter is now joining the game in addition to the usual commentary.
The Master League mode now allows you to switch between having a player grow with age or stay the same as the default settings. Also new is a Quick Start option, where by pressing R1 and L1 together when prompted, you can make the match start immediately. Newcomers will appreciate some of the optional simplifications WE10 makes. A new "Simple Setting" automates some tasks, letting the computer handle team formation and substitutions.
Further, two new modes of play have been added. The new International Challenge mode lets you select a national team from around the world and aim for top world status. This mode starts off with regional tournaments set in Asia, North America, South America and Europe, each with different regulations. The other new mode of play revealed so far is Random Selection Match mode, where you make use of a team comprised of randomly selected players.

Comparison WE10 is ok. I think 8 was better than 9 (too easy to defend). At least in 10 you have to worry about your crap keeper. I still can't stand what they did to 1-2s (making the runner start REAL slow)!!!

konami dropped the ball this time this game is a real letdown. i've played WE for years. 7 was great, 8 was close to football nirvana, 9 was even closer.. and 10. utter rubbish!!! i wouldnt be surprised if FIFA overtakes them this year. shame on you konami. almost every slide tackle is followed by a card. goalkeepers push simple shots into their own net. a good dribbler can take the ball from his own half, dribble past 10 defenders and tap a shot towards the keeper, only for him to push it into his own net. arrrgggh... makes me so mad. Come on Konami. fix this piece of *&%@&$&@* before you release the english edition.

pes 6 i cant wait till PES6 comes out!! I hope they can get more licences for the player and team names/kits also more individual tricks for special players would be great. THank you Konami for the best football game in the owrld (anyone who compares pes to fifa obviously doesnt know what hes talking about

hope PES 6 gets some bugs and other stuff fixed, but overall a nice game, will try to find a patch to include all the original jerseys for this game as i did for PES 5.

Overall If you want to win, just use a good striker who is good in dribbling and fast. Goalkeeper fumbles quite a lot. Being tripped inside the penalty box will never be a foul, only a sliding tackle will. Most of the time, a sliding tackle will earn you a yellow. Plus point is maybe it's more realistic features of players. Still prefer the version 9.

Good Game... Good Graphic and Gameplay BUT still quite dissappointed in something.
1.Graphics during reply is blur/rough.
2.Still no linesman to be seen.
3.Only 1 entrance scene.
4.WHY EPL TEAMS JERSEY STILL DIDNT IMPROVE?!

Defend getting HArder There is no more denfensive line formation for this new winning eleven. The defenders are not in organized to defend the ball since there is no defense line formation. In addition, dribble is too easy. Being a striker, it is easy to dribble over the defender. It gets harder to defent. Gameplay is a bit faster. It can be improved. Hope there is a new version of winning eleven 10.
Good Point is the new trick and new body movement.
But the physical move of the ball is a bit illogical.

in play there is some changes... the cross balls r better defending is stupid the cpu is to easy ...pass play is better and thats all ...nothing that would force you to play it 24/7 like WE8...WE9...etc

Fast, faster, fastest Konami has made a big mistake with WE10. As a pro-gamer in the WE/PES series I always play these games to the bone.
This game is a bit too fast if it wants to be taken seriously in the simulation of soccer. Usualy the WE games have a slower pace of the game, and that is what I call realistic. Unfortunately this game is way too fast, and Konami seemed to have wanted that the action would take place in front of the goal area. Well, that is what happing all right.
But the way they have tried too accomplish that they have made some mistakes. The dribbeling has been made absolutely way too easy, so it's pretty easy to get past the defence. The gamespeed is way too fast, there is no real balance in the game. They have made the defending part a bit harder to do. That would be great, but they have made evertything else much easier.
A lot of things are great about WE10, the referee is a real joy now. No more fouls all the time. It makes the flow of the game way better. The fast free kick is great and the animations have really improved in this new edition. Some new tricks have been added (the matthew feint is great) and that's really nice.
But the main problem is the balance in this game. They say it is more difficult now against the CPU and they are right. On 6* the game goes unrealisticly fast, the shooting is pretty easy now so results like 5-5 happen quite often. I usually play tournaments against real human players, but this game will not be played on those tournament, it will be WE9.
It's not really bad, but not better than WE9.

The not so Good, the Bad & the ugly CPU is weaker (easy to beat on 3-5 stars)
Game Speed is too fast
Goal Keeper AI is actually worse
Too easy to score from both long and short range
Overall this is the worst WE update ever and it pains me to state it.
